Take it easy on the dyno until you get that sheilded crank angle sensor wire. The more I think about it...the more I am thinking that a faulty timing signal really f'ed up a bunch of engines. OK?
when can i expect to see the wire in my hot little hands??
also, when you say take it easy on the dyno...do you mean keep it under 400rwhp until the wire is installed, or what?

Yeah..exactly. The wire should in your hot little hands by the end of the month at the last, according to Phunk.

To be extra safe, you might wanna safe off the dyno until you get the cable installed...just break it in gently..since you dont have the wire.

gq...Is there anyway to expedite the shipping of the wire for certain people even if at a added cost. Some people like 350zDCalb and myself for instance have our cars getting done and back on the street in the next week or so...I would feel much better if I had the crank angle sensor wire installed on my car before I take it out to do some dyno runs.

Right now, Phunk is waiting for the plugs, which should be at his shop within one week. You could ask Phunk to overnight your cable or something, but I dont know if it would safe you significant time. It wont take Phunk very long to assemble all of the cables once he has the parts in hand. And my guess is that all of the cables will ship within just a few days of one another.

Sorry if that didn help, but if someone has a specifically urgent issue, they should contact Phunk directly. The two of you could work out the cost of overnight shipping.

Thats cool. Yeah I may do that. My car is essentially done and being run on the dyno this week for fine tuning. I was contemplating letting them keep it for another week if I could get the cable by then. I plan to hit the dyno soon after getting my car back but I'd like to install the crank angle sensor wire at the least before that.

My build has been going 4.5 months now because of waiting for parts and 1 mistake by my machine shop. She should be on her way out next Friday if greater forces have no more suprises instored for me. Im running the APS kit and the shielded crank angle sensor is already on.

WOULDNT HE HAVE A HOLE IN THE BLOCK EVEN WITH FORGED PISTONS BECAUSE IT WAS TUNED BADLY????

HOW MUCH TIMING ARE YOU'LL PULLING?

I WOULD SAY 1 Degree PER A LB. OF BOOST, THEN 2 AT MAX TORQUE?????

Remember NOT to break the motor in with Synthetic oil. Use regular. Local performane shops here take the motors 150 miles, change the oil, another 450-500 miles and change it again using Synthetic if that's what there customers likes. After another 100 miles or so, they dyno at full boost.

You have holes in your block right???? From what exactly, bad tuning and detonation, right??? Even with the forged pistons you can do the same thing too, right???

it certainly can, the structural integrity will be much much stronger with the forged internals..but detonation can still occur...the lower CR pistons will help decrease the chances of detonation...and a good tune will, of course, further decrease the chances of detonation.

FYI,
My car was tuned pretty damn good before it blew, might have been that irradic signal with the unshielded crank angle sensor..
or it might have been actual fatigue and fracture of the rods...
honestly, i bought an entire longblock, my old motor is only partially diassembled at this point, so it's difficult to say for sure what caused the failure...i do have 2 holes in the block that i can visually see, clear as day

Default ATTN shops!!! taking bids on engine building...

So, as many of you have seen in previous posts...i am rebuilding my motor

THE PROPOSITION:
All shops who have built the 350z motors in the past, please let me know what you would charge me to only assemble and balance the bottome end...

I have all of the parts:
-arias pistons
-pauter rods
-main and rod bearings
-arp main and head studs

I will ship the block to you, just need it balanced and assembled...
what will you charge for the labor only (the cylinders are already bored out .02

SHOPS:
please let me know what the going rate is... and how much time to expect... i would like to ship it out and have it back in less than a week turn-around time

the reason i'm even contemplating doing this is because the shop out here is just taking way too long, i'd like to have a back up plan.

Please let me know what to expect in labor costs, shipping costs, and time involved.

THANK YOU
