sweet...
turbos look so nice dont they...

What do you think about the effectiveness of the thermostat..
I's sure its a must have for track use, but what about a weekend drive and occasional strip use?

Looking awesome man, good luck with the engine build.

When you removed the entire front on the engine bay did that make you able to pull the motor and tranny out together? That would make thing a ton easier in my book.

I admire you for doing this right the first time. I like how you are building up the motor and installing the F/I kit all at once. You will save much more in labor and aggrevation by doing it right the first time.

Sweetness!

I wasn't there the day they removed the engine but I'm sure it's easy that way.

Do I need to address timing if I set the boost at 6.5 ?

I'll be using 94 octane gas.

Thanks !

How much timing is needed with 94 octane gas ?

I thought that at stock boost, timing won't be an issue.

With the lower compression you have a little bit larger margin of safety.....but several Greddy TT cars have blown under stock boost without timing control of some kind. There are several threads on the timing fix for the Greddy kit.....hit the search.

Yes, use regular 10w-30 dino oil, something like Penzoil will do, on the first 1000-2000 miles. Dont drive it too hard and dont let the car sit idle for like 10 minutes. Try not to let the car stay at a certain rpm for too long.

Im going to try Mobil1 syth 5w30 and then Amsoil 10w30 or the high performance 10w40: http://www.thebestoil.com/hp_10w40.htm

can you educate me on this reguarding idle...? Just wanted to know what sitting at idle too long would cause..

I always let my car warm up for a few min before I go and I always let it cool down for a few min when im done... is this wrong?

I also used synthetic from the begining... I wasnt aware turbos needed the same kind of break in as an engine... because the just rotate really fast... they dont rub against sidewalls like piston rings and deal with extreme pushing and pulling forces like rods and pistons... so I didnt think regular oil was necessary at first since there wasnt really much breaking in to do..

With 94 octane fuel, you could get away without timing retard at 6psi of boost, particularly becuase you are running much lower CR that stock.

But at some point, as you plan to increae the boost, you are going to want to get the Greddy eManage Ignition Timing Harness and dial in some timing retard. Dont forget the diodes so you dont burn up the coils.

That's exactly what my tuner said.

and for an update... the turbos, manifolds and down pipes have been ceramic coated and installed on the engine (exept for the down pipes).

Engine should be in by end of the week !
