LockTite question - Vortech owners
For the experts among you: do you recommend using a thread locker such as LockTite in the install of a Vortech supercharger bracket and/or blower? Which bolts would you apply LockTite? What color LockTite do you recommend (I've got red and blue)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

no, i wouldnt put it on any except the one that holds the pulley on the backside of the blower, ive had mine installed for a while and i havent noticed any lose but that one. i put blue on it.
On an ATI that I installed I used Bule(removable) on everything that iI would not be able to easily access for inspection and/or tightening.
Also-I used Red(removable w/application of heat) on ALL the pulley retaining bolts.
Also-Do the Votech pulleys press fit or slip fit?; The ATI's are a slip fit with no heat required to install them; I was not real comfortable with the key on the shaft doing all the work so I used Green locktite(680)-yes, green; that is made for slip fit pulley applicatons. It goes on the shaft before sliding the pulley in place and aids in a tighter fit. Claims to be able to fill up to a 5 thousandths gap.
I learned this the hard way because a slightly loose fit on a pulley (refering to the tolerance between the shaft OD and the pulley ID) caused the system to wiggle enough for the steel key to eat away at the aluminum pulley, it eventually spun the shaft and I had to send it back for free replacement
This is also aggravated by the fact that the aluminum pulleys expand at a greater rate than the steel shaft so it has a tendency to get looser when driven harder 'cause the tolerances open up and become even greater.:

The idler pulleys on the Vortech are plastic. I'd worry about trying to remove them with heat after applying red LockTite. I used blue on all the retaining bolts. I don't know if they're press fit or slip, but they are very smooth and there's no slop that I can detect. The bolts I think may most need thread lock are the ones that screw into the soft aluminum of the engine. Because you can't really torque these much, it's seems to me that I should be using LockTite on them. I'm not sure if blue is sufficient because of the heat in the engine area. But red might be impossible to remove without blowtorching all the hoses and wiring in the vicinity.
Anyway, thanks very much for your comments--very helpful.

Wow- i had no idea those were plastic; that totally changes things.
Probably Delrin, thats what the solid motor mounts on my VMAX are. Pretty indestructible but I don't think they are that heat tolerant.
