Nice. I'm 100% positive it can be beat for a daily driven car, it's just a matter of no one has done it yet. Looking forward to it.

When all is said and done, I am looking for 500 to 550. My Z is not my Daily driver, but as others have said.....If I go too far above that, things will start to break.

Didnt someone break the driveshafts at high WHP?

Not sure if it was around the 550 mark though?

Cheers

No. The driveshaft is good for over...1000whp I believe. The half-axle shafts is what breaks. Driveshaft Shop has a stage 2 and stage 5 half-axle upgrade. The stock is good to 617rwhp so far, SGP Racing's customer car has that much hp and hasn't done anything to the half shaft. I imagine you'd want it though if you are going to take it to the track and launch it hard.

Breaking drivetrain components, after the clutch and flywheel, is mainly caused by drivetrain shock. We could run say 800 rwhp on decent street tires and not break trannys, halfaxle, or LSDs if the clutch was slipped and not dumped. That or you can use average tires that dont grip and spin spin spin. But if you slip some drag radials in place of the stree tires, drop the pressure down to 8 psi, heat cycle them until they stick like glue, and had an extremly grabby clutch... I bet someone could break a half axle or LSD with just 400 rwhp. The axle will fatique do to the shock of the torque and will snap sooner or later. Same with the LSD, it heats up and cools down with every time you run the car. If you beat down on it enough with hard enough launches, it will eventually break off teeths.

I'm having SGP racing build the motor.. they are one of the only places I know that uses a torque plate when boring out the cylinders.. CJ motorsports does as well. This is something I believe is almost necessary as it will allow them to bore out the cylinder under torque load.. if they dont do this there could be minor warping.. not a good thing runnin near 7k rpms...
Kyle from SGP has been extremely helpful.. i've asked him so many questions already and he has answered all of them, from experience I'd reccommend SGP but many people will recommend CJ motorsports as well. Either or

Im having Altered Atmosphere tune my engine... not only are they closer... MD vs. TX or IL... but they have already developed things for the z as well, so they have some good knowledge of the car... Haven't heard of anyone building an engine from there yet... but i know they can... speak with Dave Shiroma... he's currently helping me out now.

One more thing.. MRC motorsports is in NJ too... go to www.racemrc.com... i dont really have any experience with them but they did daking350z car a long time ago when the FI systems first came out

Thanks, Eventually when I get around to building a motor I think I'll follow the same path. When do you hope to have your car done by?

Hey brusch isn't the rps clutch only rated to handle 450 - 500 whp just a curiosity question but I know that and the jwt were comparable for the price.

550trq officially rated with their billet AL segmented flywheel. It's probablyt the strongest of the non multi-disc race or puck style clutches.
