Default What will a supercharger do for my Z?

What's the deal with superchargers? I got my 350Z about a month ago for its style and speed. I want it to be the fastest thing on my "block" (eventually) Should I be looking at superchargers, twin turbos or what? How much horsepower will my Z have after adding these? I want to modify the car from the inside out, not like a lot of these shitbox honda civics you see that add all the plastic to the outside without doing anything to the performance!! Any info would be great.

Use the search option and check in the Forced Induction Forum. There is literally TONS of information in the FI Forum.

Turbo is the way to go it you want to be the "fastest thing on your block"

Search more info on that.

It all depends on what you want to do with the car, and how you want to accomplish this goal, as well as how much money you are looking to spend.
do a search, tons of posts relating to this.
a turbo or SC kit may or may not be the way to go for you.....

So turbo would be better than the SC? How much HP on one of those babies? How about price?

A Vortech SC is going to cost you somewhere between $4500 - $5500. For me it added about 120 rwhp. Have a friend that added 150 rwhp with Vortech SC. As many have said do some research and read posts in FI.

What should my first step be then in pursuing my desire to make that car into a beast? The SC or the TT should be first, am I right? I know exhaust can add quite a bit of HP.....

first: in my biased opinion, go twin turbo

second: gather up all your money and kiss it goodbye

third: buy forged internals and gather up all the parts you'll need for the build (see my sig-that will give u some idea)...then have the rebuild done and have the twin turbo installed at the same time, this will ultimately save you the heartbrake/headache/walletache of busting holes in your block and having to do the tt install over again anyway

hope that helps...

ps: plan on at least 15K to do it right...I spent around 23K...but i didn't do it right the 1st time, and this time around i got lots of extras

and regret not upgrading your internals on that ride home in the wrecker after youve made your engine look like swiss cheese.

my car should be out of the shop next week...fully built bottom end....550-600rwhp sounds a little tempting...
how do you do that with a upercharger (not trying to be an a$$, just wondering if there is a pulley out there that will accomplish this?????)

im not really sure, this has been talked about in the past, vortech says it can produce 20psi if i remember correctly, but, pulley changes will only get about 12-14 with our other pulley ratios, i think they said the unit must be sent back to vortech and upgraded with stronger o-rings and seals for a few hundred bucks, i lost interest once i decided to sell mine and go with one of the single kits. turbonetics or aps. its been a nice upgrade tho, no complaints here.

1) Add a whine to the engine ... kinda sounds like a vaccuum cleaner humping a cricket

2) Add power

3) Increase risk for speeding tickets and unsafe driving

4) make it more fun to drive

5) buy mine ... its for sale
