I'm another one that isn't looking to upgrade right away (I was thinking Fall - Octoberish) but if this price is too good to pass up, well then I'm not going to let it slip away...
What I vaguely understand from Peter, there will be a supplemental kit needed for the ST in the G.

I don't know about G fitment personally, but I'm betting kits will be released for both the Z and G at about the same time this time around (Since the ST is less complex).

Thanks

This is good since they are very experienced with APS turbo kits and can provide different fuel mappings.

Let's hope the discount is deep if we get enough people. I'm hoping somewhere around the pricing of the Turbonetics kit!

I'm interested depending on what the final group buy price is as well. Also, how easy/hard is installation on this kit? From what I understand the turbonetics seemed to be the easiest to install, is this aps single turbo kit anything like this?

I believe both kits should be around 12-14 hours install time.

With the Turbonetics though you have to count the time to get your AC recharged and shipping your ECU out.

Questions for APS:

Will this kit work on a 2005 Z???

Will there be a G kit?

Do you need to purchase a boost controller with this kit, or does Unichip control boost?

Just so everyone knows, there will not be a group buy posted about GRD Performance on this forum.

How much does it cost to become a sponsor?

I hope not too much since a server costs $89/month and the board software is free!

Please tell me that the sponsor stuff is to cover costs and this isn't a business.

The board software is not free. The new server was a ridiculous amount, i'm not sure the admin wants me to talk about it. Sponsor costs hardly cover anything, i'm not even sure if they've covered the cost of the vBulletin software yet.

No idea how much it costs, Tuan would have to contact GodZilla or Mike Wazowski and see.

As a web designer with a lot of clients, I can guarantee you that a site like this isn't going to try and run on an $89/month server with some 3rd rate budget web hosting company.

Remember the downtime a couple weeks ago because of the server upgrade? I can almost guarantee you that the hardware needed to run a busy foum site like this with hundreds and hundreds of postings per day (thousands, probably...I don't know), MASSIVE outgoing bandwidth (all those sexy pictures people post), etc etc. is in the $500-$1500 per MONTH range. Yes. I'm totally serious. My guess is two load balanced DUAL XEON servers, 2-4 gigs of RAM each with a cisco hardware firewall and a load balancer. That's spendy stuff, let me tell you.

As for the server host, it's almost mandatory to go with a host that will manage your server for you, patching security holes as they become known, etc. If you're not paying high dollar for managed hosting, you're paying close-to-high dollar to have a 3rd party keep your server secure and up to date.

**EDIT** Click on those Ads by Goooooogle up at the top of your screen. Every click generates some revenue for this site. The sponsored ads just above them probably do as well.

In the past I've rented a dual xeon server for $89 a month with unlimited bandwidth (well a limit I never reached). It ran four forums, multiple websites, and three game servers. Game servers eat more bandwidth than most anything. The firewalls were managed by the host.

I was asking how much sponsorship was because I figured if it was nominal it may be worth it just to post group buys.

That kind of server is always an option, but you still have to manage it yourself or pay to have it done so that it stays secure, patched and up to date. The host's network connectivity, support, uptime, etc all play a big role in the host. What's the name of the host you used? Are they still around? Longevity of a host is also important. It sucks to be with a host that gets acquired by a bigger fish because support for the old host's customers tends to dwindle pretty low.

From all my past experience with many hosts, dedicated servers, etc I'm willing to pay a lot more money for a fully managed server at a webhost that is rock solid so that I never have to worry if my server is going to start having problems that cost a LOT of money...

Agreed. GRD's group buy can always be accessed at 350zmotoring when the time comes, so those who don't already have an account over there should create one.

You would have to contact Mike Wazowski, he handles sponsorship.

Ok, "official" group buy on this looks pretty ridiculous:
http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=25862

Any my350z.com sponsors going to run a pre-order/group buy/special price on this? I'm willing to pony up a small cash deposit, but not cash for the whole kit!

I figured the group buy wouldn't be as great as it was hyped up to be.
