Default Turbo Gauges...which ones??

Need to start researching gauges for my upcoming APS turbo as I'm sure many others do as well, so I thought I'd start a thread on this topic.

What are the most important gauges I'll need?

What are your recommendations (brands, etc)?

I was told not to get a digital A/F gauge, but rather analog, what do you think?

Obviously, I'll need a boost gauge also....

What else? Thanks fellas

Boost, A/F, Fuel Pressure

or

Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure

Most people are going with Defi guages, since they are great quality and match the amber interior lighting. Either get the D series, or the BF series if you have a little more cash.

I am a firm believer in my Defi gauges now...

You can set alarm points, tells you peak values obtained, and you can record gauge info for up to three minutes.

All these features are great for any FI Z and especially when you're breaking in a new engine.

Defi is definately the way to go for normal guages (Boost=Required, EGT and others=optional). You will also probably want a good wideband air fuel gauge, AEM has a good one that sits in a gauge pod then there is Zeitronix and Innovate Motorsports LM-1 that are good as well.

I just had APS TT installed.I used AEM wideband and boost gauge. Also if you don't want A pillar gauge pod crawford Z makes one that os aluminum & powder coated black that fits in navigation area very well.

IMHO, A/F gauges should ALWAYS be in digital readouts...its the only way to get a truely accurate reading out of it. And at WOT, it's just too hard to closely monitor a needle moving through the gauge...rather than a digital readout. Almost all of the wideband AF gauges I have seen are in digital. Don't get a narrow band. (lean, stoich, rich) type gauge. They are worthless for tuning.

In terms of gauge preference....I like
1) Boost
2) Wideband A/F (AEM, Innovative..etc)
3) Fuel Pressure (often overlooked, but absolutely critical when tuning)
4) EGT

Without knowing what your fuel pressure is doing, you are pretty much tuning blind. If your fuel pressure is dropping, you will be not be able to add more fuel via emanage or other tuning device...and you will be sitting there scratching your head...wondering why you cant make the mixture any richer.

Also like the Defi brands...D Link actually comes in American readings now, but I wish they would do the same for the BF series...those black faces are sick.

Is the EGT really necessary? I just don't want to have soo many gauges bombarding my car. Is there a way to just get a screen readout with everything instead?

Defi is the best way to go and if you want to keep the number of gauges down just add a Link Display and just get the extra sensors that you require. I replaced the OEM gauges with a boost, fuel pressure and oil temp BF gauges but also purchased water temp, exhaust temp and oil pressure sensors, so now I can montior all the sensors plus the car speed via the Link Display Unit but I mainly monitor oil pressure and exhaust temp.

Cheers

If you don't mind a digital readout you can get the Zeitronix. Reads out Boost/AFR/EGT and other stuff. The AFR is also a wideband.
