Default More Turbonetics questions....

MIAPLAYA...... Just a few more questions..... it seemed that all the other S/T debate threades are dead.....

1. Has a heat test been done..... there was a lot of talk about the heat levels in the Engine compartment but no actual data was produced....

2. In the event Turbo failure does occur from over heat..... is anyone aware of max damage...and repair cost???? How often has this been seen in diffrent applications...

3. Previous posting indicated a disagrement about downpipe size.... 3" vs 2.75" was this ever answered??? and for the experts when would this, if even a problem come into play(WHP levels)

4. Since there is no Fuel return system has there been any monitoring of fuel pressure to see if it even fluctuates under boost??

Thats all I have.....

Well as for heat tests the kit has been tested in rush hour traffic in LA and as anyone with experience with that well tell you it can be hell on a car. The car has also been as hard as possible without any issues.

It is doubtful there will be any turbo failure as a result of heat problems. Should there be (and again i'm certain there won't be) Turbonetics warranty would cover this and replace the turbo free of charge.

The info i have is that the downpipe is in fact 3" diameter

I have not personally seen the test data for the fuel pressure under boost but I should have my car back next Friday and one of the first things getting installed is my fuel pressure gauge so I can give you accurate info then..

Hope all that helps...

Hey MIAPLAYA I know we ask alot of you

And here is some more, any time table on the Hi-Flow kit? And if one was to get the first version of the kit, could it be possible to attain the Hi-Flow afterwards and have the option of both? Oh and what is going on with the CAS and will that be given to those who have already paid for a kit?

Oh and going back to the exhaust, since it appears to be one exhaust outlet. Does it replace the area of the stock Y-Pipe so we don't need one? Sorry I bet you mentioned it before.

Thanks for any answers.

Well lets see if I can answer a few of these for you....

First off yes if you purchase the regular kit you can switch over to the cat down pipe at any time. It would actually not be very hard at all. The cat is actually located on the turbo downpipe so changing it is easy.

Next the downpipe does take up the area of the stock y pipe. So no you will no longer need your y pipe.

Third the cat version. From what I know from the last time I talked to Brad I believe the cat version is either currently available or should be soon. I'll call him again this morning to verify that but I know it has a part number and I'm sure it can be ordered but I can't verify the status right now...

The CAS...I know Brad has said he is researching this I am not sure where they are on it but I'm sure when they decide to send something out prior kit purchasers will get one sent to them as well..... I'll talk to Brad later and see whats up...

Have they already developed fuel maps for diffrent boost levels or do they customize on a case by case basis???? I for one would rather use a MAP that has already been developed.....

The standard flash will allow you to run from 8 PSI to 9.5 PSI safely witha the highest AFR being 11.5:1 at 9.5 PSI. No knock at that pressure. For less boost they would need to look at what you want and tweak their base maps...

I have already noticed that the APS kit will require either replacement of my INJEN exhaust or major changes to there downpipe...... I have not been able to find a photo of the Turbonetics downpipe and how it will look from under the car.... a photo that will clearly allow DUAL exhaust owners the ability to visualize what needs to be done... Do you have one or could you take some while you car is on a lift/ jacked up......

I think it's the same, pipe ends where the stock Y-Pipe used to. I believe all ST kits will be this way (because it's the only way that makes sense).

Default low price on turbonetics

Don't know if this is real or legit but it is worth checking it out.

Well since APS has there turbo located under the car and Turbonetics does not the Turbonetics kit may be easier to modify...... Thats why I request a picture...It will be easier to determine...
