STS Turbo Kit Rumor
I heard from Dave South at Squires Turbo Systems that they are actually working on a remote (rear mount) turbo kit for the 350z. They're aiming for a summer release.

It's a very controversial design and has the principles of thermodynamics working against it. However, it could end up being the cheapest FI option available (short of nitrous). Whether that makes it worth it or not, I don't know. Regardless, the competition from STS might help lower the cost on other single turbo kits....

The idea is very controversial and may not seem the best idea but appearantly it's been working pretty well for the LS1 guys. Who knows, maybe it's a good bang for your buck system.

Yes the idea came up a while back i was going to have it done to my car...and everyone on here shot it down. I beleive it can be done and work, iam not saying that it would be like a tt or single system, but that it would work...if your on a budget. I am now going with turbonetics S/T kit...

redline...which is why I am saying it's not financially smart now...Turbonetics is only $4500...I don't think STS is going to swing it much lower than that...plus you have a greater power potential with Turbonetics.
Depending on their solution to fuel and timing, I think they could beat $4k on price. The MSRP on their other kits ranges from $3.5k to $4.5k but probably those domestic kits have the advantage of cheaper fuel/timing solutions than the Z. The Turbonetics kit MSRP is something like $5k, but is being discounted currently by resellers. So keep in mind that the STS will come in a little cheaper than it's MSRP as well.
They are going to save a good bit on not having an intercooler. Also, installation will be a very easy DIY project, except maybe their fuel solution.
Personally, I'm not interested in this product other that sitting back and watching the results. However, I think that STS has the potential to make FI a difficult decision for some people. Let's say that street prices comes in at $3750 and it's easy to DIY. Someone will bite. They will have turbo lag and they will be heckled online, but they'll have a cheap turbo solution.

I know the physics of the kit suggests there will be a lot of turbo lag, but I drove a 4.8l chevy pickup with the STS turbo and it was a beast. I really didn't feel any turbo lag at all, it was truly fun to drive.
I'm not saying anything about how it will act with the Z. I may go for one with my tahoe, but I would probably do a kenne bell. I just like the eaton/roots type performance.
