Driving impressions....on boost OMFG SAVE ME!!! No seriously..... the kit is AMAZINGLY streetable. It drives just like stock off boost. No wierd idle or anything. A couple others have driven the car and will tell you that at idle you cant even tell the car is on. Its extremely quiet and civilized off boost. But once you get on it and go WOT in any gear above 2500 this thing absolutely screams... Last night I was praticing my launches and even with 10.5" wide tires in the back and a Nismo LSD feathering the throttle at around 2500 rpms I would have ZERO traction. The car feels amazing. When the boost kicks it feels like the non-geek equivalent of warp speed. It pulls extremely hard through every gear no matter what the engine speed. I noticed that in 5th or 6th gear at 2500 rpms just cruising if I go WOT the boost shoots up to 5PSI within a second and full boost is another second away.

Just wanted to begin with a congrats on the car . I've spent the past 2 days reading most of the 60 page thread, and I'm glad you can finally enjoy it! I am one of many who are envious haha.

I wanted to ask a few questions about the cost and the install.

Were you able to watch the shop install the kit? If so, do you think that an average joe with medium mechanic ability (able to install sways, exhausts, etc.) could understand the instructions well enough to do it?

With the kit plus protocav's installation of the gauges, how much did it run you? You can PM me this info if you don't want to post it on the thread. I just wanted to see how much extra it would cost to have protocav do the installation of the gauges.

Thanks, and another congrats on the car. This is how they all should have come .

The kit and install were done by Turbonetics as I was their 04 test car but most places are charging under $800 for kit install. the instructions are VERY straightforward and if you don't feel comfortable doing it I would recommend protocav to do everything for you. Because the ECU is pre-tuned by Turbonetics there is no dyno time needed. protocav has looked over my kit VERY thoroughly and is sure he could do this install with ease... As for the gauges.... protocav charges about $40 /hr for non-standard work such as gauges. Due to the nature of my request and having to have it done ASAP he pulled an all nighter and worked VERY long hours to make sure it was all done to my satisfaction. My price also included the suspension install for SPC camber arms, toe bolts, and Cusco A arms. I would contact him personally to see what you can work out. He may work something in for a flat fee for the kit and gauges....PM him for the best info. His price list is on his webpage at http://members.***.net/chadisrad

I would say so..Obviously some things you will want to have a pro do... Replacing the AC line can be done at any AC shop for under $100.. Everything is pretty straight forward assuming you have the right tools. Like a bit that can drill the oil return. A tap and die set, etc...

The last time I saw some numbers it was said full boost achieved by 3.5k-4k rpms, which seemed a bit late. Are you saying you're hitting it closer to 3k?

Thanks for the response MIAPLAYA, I'll be sure to contact protocav when I get this kit . Another quick question: how come you didn't have protocav install a turbo timer while he was working on all the gauges and other stuff?

Its hitting over 5 PSI before 3500 according to my boost gauge. Its kind of hard to watch since when the boost kicks in all you are worried about is not hitting something. This thing REALLY takes off. I'll post videos tonight with someone videoing the boost gauge during the run...

My boost controller and turbo timer have not yet arrived. And trust me there was NO time to get anything else done. As it was he worked ALL night just to do what was done.
