Default weird fi problem?

i have an ati kit on my car and have been having some weird things happening. i can hammer the throttle quickly and have no problems at all, but if i ease into the throttle heavily it acts like it is running out of gas. it will act like it is running out of gas till i just pull over and turn the car off then when i start it right back up it is fine again. no service engine soon lights come on and my fuel pressure does rise just as it should with the aeromotive fmu working properly. it will still drive and stuff but if i just bairily get into the gas when it is in this mode it will cut out like it is running out of fuel yet my fuel pressure is still in the normal 50 psi range.
anyone had this happen or know why i could be getting this condition? it is leaving me stumped.

Sounds a little like the limp mode issue. Search the archives for a thread titled bad news for big boosters by skidazzle and me. Are you clamping the MAF voltage at 4.8 or 4.9 volts. Once that thing sees 5.0 volts the car will go into limp mode. This may not be what you're experiencing, but it might help.

Sounds like a problem similar to what I and a few others have seen. I rarely drive my car and have yet to figure out what is causing it. I cannot duplicate it on a regular basis. Some of the other guys claimed they fixed the problem by:
- rebuilding FMU (fuel management unit) (on Vortech system)
- cleaning/replacing fouled spark plugs
- MAF issue like t32gzz mentions above

if you can hammer it without issue, then its probably not a MAF related issue. It sounds like you might need to do some tuning for the part throttle positions....sounds like you are running pig rich at part throttle Dyno tuning is the only way to know for sure.

I had this problem. I pulled the plugs to find that I was running WAY rich! leaned it up put new plugs in and my problems are gone!

I have the same issue. My fuel pressure gauge drops to 22 psi when at partial throttle, while accellerating. My research has led me to the conclusion that the stock fuel pump can't keep up. When you go to WOT, the aux pump kicks in and all is well. My solution was to buy the walbro 255lph fuel pump, open up the siphon jet, and go with 440cc injectors. I want to get rid of the FMU altogether from the ATI system. I had earlier posts about my issue.
