Default did some racing, stopped by the track...

beat the car to all hell this weekend... it got bad starting last night I raced a CLK55 AMG from 80-110 and I only put 4-5 cars on him so I was worried that maybe something was wrong... I came back to the shop and did 2 dyno pulls and all the power was still there... sure enough that benz is just fast.

this morning I went to the track... I am a not a good driver at all.

My best run at 9.5psi of boost was 11.8@117mph.... on that run is probably the best driving run I did of the day. At 11.5psi it was one mistake after another down the track and I never managed better then a 11.6@122 (on a 1.813 60')... if i was better at handling the car and based on my mistakes, I really felt the car could have done a 11.3 today if I let someone else drive it.

I dunno... Ill get the videos off the camera but I need someone to host. any takers?

On the way back a new C6 Vette tried to race me... since I cant hook up below 80 on the street tires I had to give him low boost 9.5psi, i dunno... I guess I had him by far enough that im not sure if he was going all out or not? how fast are those things? Then some freakin GS400 wanted to give it a shot im not sure why but hey im always up for a race.

Props to you Charles. I really like the fact that you have a low volume shop, means you are taking extremely care on every car you are working on to perfection. I wish I live in Chicago. Well at least I can buy fuel return stuff from you if i decided to go F/I in the future

So you're having trouble hooking up at anything below 80 on street tires? That's a good problem to have! Those C6's run 400 bhp, but run a 12.7. Pretty quick, but in a 1/4 you would pull one by close to 10 car lengths. Are you running the DR's at the track or full slicks? What does your 60 ft look like?

Great times with or without mistakes. What was the last dyno??

Nice work Charles...this is DEFINATELY a 10 second car with more practice, and little more boost.

I cant remember if you have an LSD or not, which will help those 60ft times immensely.

How big is the file? I may be able to host it, but you would need to provide me with a link to download it from.

Let me know.

yah...i never thought i would be "complaining" about losing traction through 4th gear on 285's...but it is a disadvantage
i have learned to partial throttle 1st and 2nd...almost full throttle 3rd..then full throttle 4th-6th to really get up to speed quickly..
is there a way to set boost at say:
maximum 7psi 1st gear, 8 psi 2nd gear, 11 psi 3rd, 16 4th-6th...?
that would be cool

Nice run, what was your 60ft and 1/8 #'s on this one? I wish you hadnt run that dragster I couldnt even hear your car-I know its not that loud but you know, I would of liked to maybe here your shifts. If your pulling 1.8 60ft's on Dr's your first time out with this set-up I don think your too bad of a driver Nice job and good luck in the future with it, that 122 trap is sweet, and from here will only get higher.

I'm pretty sure the Apexi boost controller allows you to set boost for each gear, but Ive never heard of anybody in a Z running their boost controller, maybe Charles can do that with his HKS unit....

Just though I would add, those CLK55 AMG's are not slow. Witnessed one dyno 430 rwhp and 470 rwtq completely stock. I was amazed. 5 car lengths is not bad at all.

Yeah, dont be so hard on yourself. I'm sure with some more practice you'll hit those 10's in no time!

CLK55 does not come with a S/C, i believe it's has around 360bhp stock. Though CL55, SL55, E55 and S55 come S/C'd out from the factory after the year 2003.
Just a friendly note
And i think Charles was racing a CL55.
