I have a photo of the AEBS closed block sleeve - as I recall there was One hole feeding the Front of the head and three holes feeding the back of the head.

Quite a difference from open block... I keep asking myself why there is not at least one hole on the center cylinder. Just speculating of course..

The other common component is ARP studs vs. the Stock strechy ones.

Cheers Amy -

The holes you see in the photo's of AEBS sleeved block mimic the water holes
in the OE cylinder head gasket.

The open block is closed at the top by the gasket & cylinder head, and in the OE block the only transfer of coolant from the block to cylinder is through these same holes that you see in AEBS photos

I'm not gonna say sorry Charles, I'm gonna say good job because now you know what not to do on the next time around. This is how the best tuners become even better, but it does suck for the time being. Looking forward to you hitting 10s in the 1/4 mile.

has my headgasket unblown itself??

Symptoms have dissappeared. I have been back on the regular schedule of severe abuse to the engine the last couple days.

Thinking its gotta be a little head lift im getting at higher boost. I havent had the nerve to try 14 psi again but at 12 psi well... I dunno I have raced more cars then I can count just in the last few hours of enjoying a little saturday to myself.

I have a combustion gas tester on the way to use on the coolant. Who knows, maybe I just got a real screwy radiator cap.

I bought a Koyo radiator to try in place of my Stillen because I think the radiator cap flange is a little wacky on this one... the way it came out of the box with the cap that came with it... the cap was fully opened and sealed tight by the time it was on, meaning it was impossible for it to even vent, I have been using other caps and perhaps thats been my problem all along. So the Koyo will be here in a day or two. I also bought a 2005 Track lower plenum with the shorter runners and a crawford upper... and some other goodies. I think I will get this sucker up to 600-605rwhp at 1 bar.

I punched a 289 Ford 60 over and put 12.5/1 domed pistons in it. Blew MANY sets of head gaskets before I found a solution. Required a certain brand and thickness head gasket and specific spray sealer.

It helps if ya don't "get on it" until the re-torquing.

(Engine lasted 80,000 miles)
