Are you sure about that? I always believed that Z cars produced after 7th month 03 (04 model cars) had wide band O2 sensors and Z cars produced before 7th month 03 (03 model cars) had narrow band sensors.

There are only 2003, 2004, and 2005 model 350Z's.

With that said, Nissan can update anything on the car at anytime they want to. We have no other way to designate this change other than putting a term such as 04.5 to it.

No, i'm not sure at all.

Maybe this is why Technosquare was having a problem on ALL 2004 models...so the 2004.5 change would be a rumor.

Thanks as this is what I also thought and is also fact according to Nissan.

True though what you guys keep referring to as a 2004.5 is in actual fact an 05 model car.

I'm 99% sure that all Z cars produced after 7th month 03 (04 model Z car) have wide band o2 sensors.

I think you may find that the car they have problem with is in fact a 2005 model car (a Z car produced after 7th month 04) and thanks for your input to this thread as I feel that we have now cleared up the year model issue now.

what do you mean by all Z's produced after 7th month 03?

do you mean anything after july of 03? or 7 months after when the Z first came out?

When did the Z come out? it started shipping in feb of 02 right?

at which date did nissan start using wideband 02 sensors? Can narrowband sensors be upgraded to wideband?

the wideband 02 sensors are the ones in the Cats right? or do you mean other sensors such as the MAF?

Sentry, you wouldn't want to switch to wideband just yet. If Peter determines that there isn't a significant change in the tuning procedure...then I would upgrade. If not, then it will just make things harder.

Ok, to add to the confusion, let me ask one more question. Did Nissan make the 02 change on the G35 at the same time as the 350Z? One more: does this O2 sensor change correspond to the ULEV2 certification of 2004.5 G35s?

There are 4 O2 sensors, two for each banks of cylinders. One before and one after the cats. Total of four. They probably changed all four when they made the switch, but I really don't know...

That would be speculating. I'm not sure, but I would guess that they did.
