I installed my E-01 last night, but only for programming and display (did not hook up the boost controller valve). Ok so after I reconnected the ECU connector to the ecu and reconnected the negative battery cable, we turned the ignition to on, but did not start the car. We looked at the Active L.E.D. on the E-Manage and it was flashing red, green, yellow the whole time and I couldn't find anything in the E-Manage manual that discussed this.
Anyway we connected the Emanage to the E01 via USB cable and followed instructions to update the E-manage program and it worked. Then we went to initialize the E-manage via e-01 and it seems to work because it no longer said lock. Now the problem...
The ECU was still flashing all the colors on the Active LED and the Interaction LED blinks like it should (just flashing orange). We started the car to see what would happen and it idled rougher than usual but still idle none the less (thinking the factory ecu settings were trying to control 440cc injectors) and the e-01 would not display the rpm's or the boost so we turned the car off, unpluged the USB cable and started it again. This time it idled like normal and the E01 displayed the proper vacuum and rpm's. Now thoroughly confused...
It just seems the E-01 doesn't want to communicate properly with the E-manage and that is the whole problem, because when they are disconnected the E-01 Program for the Center Unit is at V1.10 and when they are connected it is at Vx.xx and will not update because of communication error. I really can't figure out whats going on so any help woudl be greatly appreciated.
So there is what is happening, we were in the garage from about 10pm to 5am last night trying to get this resolved, but couldn't get it to work. So, basically I need all the input I can get to get this resolve ASAP cause I don't feel safe driving it even though it runs.

I would first hook up a laptop to the emanage to make sure you still have MAPS there to run the turbos because if you intialized the emanage and updated it you cleared out the MAPS in the emanage and you are currently running with the ECU.
As far as any other problems I don't know as I have not had such problems.

WestPAk is correct - The answer to the E-01 update is No!
Do not answer Yes
If you say yes to the question Update in the E-01
You will delete your E-Manage maps..
If you did delete your E-Manage maps
You will have to restore with your Lap-Top - A set of valid maps.
When the E-Manage Map's are blown out.. THe car will run Pig Rich and hard to Idle.
Do not try to drive the car in this condition.
Restore the backup Maps from your lap - top and try again.
Cheers Amy

P.S. 350now and GQ_626 can make this really clear....

I think thats what my tuner did as well. They said yes on the update. But for some strange reason, whenever I plug the USB cable in, I cant initialize anything. It keeps on saying connection error. Can anyone explain this? Is there a way to erase the update and get it back to where it was before?

Westpak and AmyCroft: So I have to reset the setttings into the E-Manage with the support tool and laptop? I can't do it through the E-01 Programmer? If so, anyone near Hickory, NC got a support tool I can borrow

I had mine shipped overnight to Kenji at Greddy . . . just include the memory card from the profec too . . .
I think we should have a "stickied" thread on programming and initializing the e01. It's just too common of a problem and the archived info is not necessarily in layman terms.

Anybody else got any idea why it keeps telling me communication error and the lights are blinking. I hate the car just sitting there helpless in the garage.
Michael, call me and I'll walk you through the process to fix this. I am pretty sure you wiped out the firmware on the eManage, and that is why you cant get the car to idle properly. It's the dreaded "update question" when you first install the e-01. JUST SAY NO!

Got my Support Tool in today and spent a little while on the phone with Sharif and I was able to upload the firmware back into the emanage and then load the maps I had stored in the E01. Car is good to go now.
So for all those people out there who initialize you E-Manage on accident, you MUST have the support tool to reinstall the firmware. This knowledge would have been nice right when I had this problem.
Thanks again Sharif.

It seems that I am having this same exact problem...
I just got the Greddy kit installed this evening. The kit was shipped w/o the emanage, so I had to have a blank one shipped out to me over night. I got the maps loaded into the e-01 and uploaded them to the emanage. Started the car and it idled ok but not great. Took it out on the road and it would not boost at all! Scratched my head to a while and remembered that I forgot to change the rotory switches inside to 7-0-1. Did that and turned the car back on, red, yellow, green flashhing lights on the emanage. Tryied to load the maps again, kept getting a communication error. Tried to the initialize the emanage and got a 00:0387 error code on the e-01 and another communication error.
Now this is were it gets interesting... Changed the rotory switches back, started the car, solid green light on the emange... Turned the car back off changed the switches back and started it up again, solid green light. Tried to export the maps to the emanage it gave me an error, tried again and they loaded...
Car ran awsome! pulled hard, idled great, etc. Drove it around for about 20 minutes. Turned it off to make sure I was not leaking fluids, checked everything over. Go to start it up again... Flashing lights on the emanage again!!! WTF!!!
I have not been able to communicate with it since. The car is back to running like complete crap! Help!
I do not have a support tool and laptop, just the e-01. Anyone have this problem before? This really sucks, since the car ran great one time, but now it has to sit until I can figure this out...
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!!!
