Default Another Vortech Install Complete

I am not the first and will not be the last to point out the excellent work done at Evolution Autosports in Chantilly, VA. Being a Vortech dealer, the price they are able to give on the polished kit is quite good, and the install cost is also very fair. Particularly when I dropped the car off I was impressed that in spite of how busy it was that day (3 or 4 cars lined up in the back), Jeff and the guys took some time to answer my [ignorant] questions. So after we resolved some issues such as a stripped drain bolt and oil pan [thanks so much dealership tech w/ air gun] and a missing part from the kit it was on to installation. When I picked the car up last night it was just as I left it, with the minor addition of an almost disturbingly loud blower and an amber Defi BF boost gauge. I could go on and on about how clean the install was, but suffice it to say that I have yet to find a mark on or problem with the car.

As for how the car drives, at low RPM and cruising it is very docile and much like stock with the exception of the whistle. At full throttle and below around 3000 RPM it is very much under control and nothing extraordinary. Once the revs come up and boost increases toward .5 bar good lord. Take care at this point to not giggle like a school girl as you fly past unsuspecting civilians. Now, to avoid exaggeration I will admit that I have driven faster cars, but for the dollar this is definitely a very substantial upgrade. The power delivery is so smooth that it is difficult to compare to cars such as the '95 RX-7, but with only a few miles on the charger so far I _believe_ it is similar in acceleration.

All that said, definitely a good install from what I can tell; and a better result than calling the other Vortech dealer in Virginia to attempt to order, let alone request installation on your Z.

Congrats man!!!, I just finished my install last week, I love the car even more then I did before. Make sure you keep an eye on the belt, and tighten it as it will loosen up.

Thanks. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on things. Originally I was thinking that wider wheels / tires and a clutch would be the next steps, but it seems that these should hold out for some time (I have ~9500 miles on the car). Headers and exhaust might be the ticket. Crawford headers and the Invidia g200 exhaust are fairly popular, though the last thing I want to do here is restrict flow or reduce power. These seem like quality products, but I am wondering if the true-dual pipes are adequate or if there is a more appropriate model.

Obviously a few gauges beyond boost will be helpful as well.

By the way, that whistle at idle and low speeds makes it difficult to be inconspicuous.

While it stands to reason that idle oil pressure _should_ be a bit lower since the charger is tapping it, I'd like to know for sure that this is normal? Under throttle the pressure seems more normal, but it is definitely left of the 60 mark idling.
