Default Sleeve for *less* displacement...?

I read an article where a 3.0L engine was placed in a race-prepped 350Z. It seems this was done primarily to qualify for a race class which is limited to 3.0L displacement; however, a side benefit mentioned in the article was the fact that this more robust block would be absolutely bullet-proof under high boost conditions (in excess of 28psi).

For those who plan to bore/sleeve their VQ35DE blocks for F/I, I wonder if this 3.0L option would be worth considering? Isn't there an abundance of pistons, rods, and other components readily available for the smaller bores, from a zillion sources?

As an alternative to boring/sleeving for 3.0L, I wonder if a 3.0L engine from a 300ZXTT might be good? A pair of aftermarket BB turbos on that 3.0L engine can take it to 600-HP and beyond, on a block built for F/I. Will a (VG30TT?) engine mount-up in a 350Z engine bay?

If that route was taken I think if you could combine the vq35 heads with the vq30 block you would have a winner. But I think because of the changes in technology, like throttle by wire, you would have to run a stand alone to get the full potential out of the motor. I am sure you could probably take a little of the displacement out of the vq35 by using a thicker sleeve from Darton but you would have to notch the bottom of the bores for rod clearance. As well, a lot of the displacement comes from stroke alone so if you could run the vq30 crank in the vq35 that would take car of that. Either way I think it would be a very involved project.
