Could someone post instructions, or a brief overview, of how this is installed? Does it replace a section of the OEM wiring (using connectors) or do you have to splice it in somewhere?

TIA - Rob

Phaneom - Yeah 401wrhp with the stock pulley...check out this thread for info on my car including my dyno:

zachcrosen - Sorry, I was getting ready for ZdayZ. I got the wire installed it just cost me more than it should have. I too want the extra safety. My bet is that the wire is fine and they are not hooking it up right. My guys had the same problem once they talked to Charles they finally got it figured out.

zachcrosen: his installer attempted install again and got it right, so they are using the original CAS wire that I sent them... they just had it in wrong the first time.

Rob,

installation is extremely straight forward if you are familiar with wiring electronics into vehilces.

1: plug in new connector to crank trigger
2: attach the ground underneath the crank trigger bolt
3: route the 8' of wiring up the side of the trans, thru the battery compartment, and to the ECU
3: splice in the positive and negative wires for the sensor
4: cut the stock signal wire and attach the new one to the ECU input lead.

Thanks Charles.

I am assuming that this should be installed prior to the Split Second box's splice into that wire. Correct?

yes since this is the signal straight from the sensor, you need to treat it as if it were the stock wire coming from the engine bay inside the harness. If you were to install it after the split second, then you would not be getting any of your timing retard and engine failure would only be a few moments away.

on a side note... there is one thing that is scareing me here. out of so many of these that have been sold, 4 people have run into an issue with it. Now... all that crosses my mind here is that if there was a difficulty in hooking up 3 wires... what about the people having e-manages installed with timing harness, we are talking about probably 20 wires there, each one of so much importance that if it were incorrect engine failure would instantly follow... IMHO its no wonder some people blow their engines first day out with FI... I am having professional shops call me in need of assistence with the installation of such a basic product, that I cannot even believe the same technition might be attempting the complex wiring of a full piggyback.

I feel what you are saying. I think maybe the reason installers are having issues with installing these is because this is not normally something that is installed in a car? Does this sound right? Since I am new to FI and modding, I have never heard of installing a CAS wire in a car. I think installers have installed different piggybacks and it has become second nature for them and most probably have not done the CAS wire before.
