I looked it up on the Audi website and you're right! I guess Peter was right about having higher static compression ratio with a turbo. I can't wait to get my APS TT this fall...
The Audi can do that because it has direct injection, when the gas is injected directly, it has a cooling effect to supress detonation.
Gas is very ineficient for cooling, but it is generally the only thing available to the OEM that is idot proof for the end user. Check out water injection H2O
isn't the VQ35 just a regular fuel injection engine like any other fuel injected engine or is it like the audi?
VQ35 does not have direct injection. Direct Injection squirts the fuel directly into the combustion chamber vs. spraying the fuel into the intake track. Its an awesome design, and minimizes the changes of detonation, and allows OEM's to run richer CR's for better emmisions and more power...with less chances of knock.
