Default A/F readings

I just have a quick question I hope some one can help me out. I have a Defi-D narrow band a/f gauge. Now I know how people say narrow band is worthless...but my gauge while sitting at idle sits right at 14.6 and about every 5-10 seconds it goes to 16 and then goes right back to 14.6. While driving it also stays at 14.6 but in between shifts it will go to 11-12 but as soon as I get back on the gas it goes right back to to 14.6. And for example if I am going 50 mph and I let off the gas and basically coast in gear the needle goes right to 17 (which is the highest the gauge goes) and stays there untill I push the gas..then goes right back to 14.6. Also if I stay at a constant speed the gauge does the same thing that it does while at idle. Is this normal for this gauge or do I have something to worry about?

All sounds normal to me. When you let off of the gas and coast it reads higher because there is no fuel, therefore lean. No problems.

I think what 1 2 NV is saying is he get's no usable information of what A/F ratio is under boost...

A Wide band at least gives a clue...

Cheers Amy -

Are you running boost in your car? If so I'm not sure how good it is to be running 14.6 steady when on the gas. If that is what you are saying. What does your gauge read when WOT?

No, no boost until next week! I am NA right now. I just hooked up the gauge so there is one less thing to take care of when the kit comes in. Plus I thought it would be good to compare with and with out a turbo.
