Default G35 APS TT Installed

Very satisfied with the numbers, I was expecting about 20whp less. Modifications are Nismo Exhaust and Test Pipes.. needless to say I LOVE this. Unfortunately its raining so I cant really open it up, but from what I can tell I wont be dissapointed at all. From the gauges I can see that I'm hitting 10psi, EGT's are staying between 400 when cruising and 600 when I really get on it. I chose to go with water injection to make up for the restrictive G35 bumper.

Z1 Motorsports in Carrollton, GA did the install and I couldn't happier with the install.

Where do you have your EGT probe? Those numbers don't make much sense unless the probe is located in teh downpipe, in which case it's pretty much useless. Are we talking celcius?

Good job on the install. I'll be doing mine as soon as the supplementary kit shows up.

Also, did you tune it or is it the "out-of-the-box" tune?

Thanks!

Yes, out the box tune. And the probe is in the downpipe, I wouldn't say its useless but I wont say its most accurate either. Realize that the water injection will make the EGT's a little lower as well.

Yeah, your EGT's are too low! Either it's in the muffler or something is wrong with probe/gauge.

Nice numbers BTW!

I bought it from a 350Z owner on this website for $6800. He and his wife have a baby on the way so I guess the APS kit wasn't in their plans.

Yes, 10psi is on the stock block. Yes I know that is high on the stock block etc etc.

I think he said it only hit 10psi once, and that was when his friend saw it. Maybe it was the viewing angle.

It should be fairly safe damen and I don't want to read about another blown engine, no matter who's product is involved.

I believe the owner is running a water injection system with the slightly higher than stock APS boost pressure setting, (10 PSI) in a perfect world the engine tuning should be checked (air fuel ratio and boost I believe has been checked) and a little more ignition timing retard mapped into the computer.

Thanks for the encouragement, I wish you good luck whenever you're able to go FI

No need to be so pessimistic, anyone thinking about going FI should consider the risks involved.. I considered this from day one. APS undoubtably has put together a great kit that has allowed us to question the capabilities of the VQ engine, but I understand by no means that these engines are bullet proof. Till then I'll just enjoy the new found power.

To the contrary - the unichip computer in the hands of a competent and experienced dyno/engine tuner is very tuneable and as of now imho is the best interceptor style computer on the planet.

The only other engine management I would seriously consider for the VQ engine right now (if I was not working with the Unichip computer) would be a motec or Autronic stand alone engine management computer.

Peter
i'm sure it is if they have the software and whatnot...

my comment was addressed to the 99% of the APS owners who HAVE NOT tuned the unichip at all, just are running it out of the box...

...(I'm just jealous)
