Oy vei, this post has gotten out of control. First of all I am pretty confident in what I am doing, and I generally don't post on forums because I get frustrated with all the personalities. That being said.....
It is my opinion that the APS kit is a much better quality product, and that pretty much all of their products are amazing quality. When I purchased the kit, I was expecting to tune the Unichip. I still have the option, but well, the Unichip is a steaming pile of crap to everyone except people who sell their products (APS, and like 3 other people on the planet.)
< Pardon my brief break in the offensive posting > This to me is unconfirmed info that Charles is posting, but if it's true (and I have no reason to believe that it's not) that the Unichip modifies the CAS signal and the MAF signal only instead of driving the injectors directly, then well, I am especially happy happy with my decision. <back to my regularly schedule rant>
So the Unichip is kind of a bitter spot with me. I am kind of a unique person, really, I am a computer programmer - professionally - since I was 15, so I know lots of stuff about comptuers, electronics, and logic in general. Then around 19 or so I got in to cars, and I have obsessed about it. Now, at 24, I have a small shop.. and.. I tune cars..... as a hobby!
So for the last say, 3 years or so, I have been tuning S2000's, and a few other cars with the AEM EMS. Say what you want about the EMS (Charles..) but it's a damn fine system, and I have followed their software updates, and beta software, etc for a while. I have learned alot.
The one fault with the EMS is what makes it so great. That is that it is an open system with public forums, publically available documents, and software. This means at anyone can tune it, and they encourage people to do so. I have seen many EMS's come to me with rediculous tunes. My most recent project S2000 actually had the map sensor signal wire cut, and the O2 sensor wired to it...
Now enter the Unichip. About 2 years ago I tuned a Corvette with one, under the instruction of another shop in Naples, FL, which is now out of business. Having worked in a (relatively nice) tuning program, and then switching to the DOS based piecer that the Unichip uses, I was very unhappy. Then I get the APS kit, and it has it. OK, well I can't tune it because I don't have the harness... To get the harness it's going to cost me at least $1000 or so. Then one day I read a post from Peter at APS replying to my direct questions regarding the Unichip's abilities and I got a very general "You have to take it to a good tuner" response, and well that annoyed the crap out of me. (I love ya Peter)
So back to why do I have the APS kit? Well... Garrett is using Mitsubishi turbos which were on cars that came out like 15 years ago, so that makes it on par with turbos that are say 15-20 years old. APS has Garrett GT turbos with the kit, which provide much more torque, are water cooled, and very reliable. I had a GT30/40 turbo on my S2000 at one point and it was amazing power and spool up.
There are various other higher quality components of the APS vs the GReddy kit, such as the injectors, and oil pan.
OK, let's see... to the guy who thinks that I will be the first guy to blow up my motor, don't assume that everyone only knows as much as you.
Anyone left to offend?
kthx
Chris

Many of the Honda guys that had bad experiences with the eManage, were not using the ignition or injector harnesses....which essentially makes the eMange nothing than an AFC type device.
