Bad News! Need Vortech Help!
I went to the tuners this morning and I did not likr the news I got. The first run I did on the dyno I got 251 HP in 4th gear but I only hit like 3.5 psi. So I was like what the hell. So he figured there was some kind of leak some where so he adjusted the BOV and worked with the tune to lean things up at the top and I ended getting a max of 307 HP but only at like 4.5-5 psi. We tried to tighten all the fittings but from what we found they were all tight. He then did a 5th gear pull and ended up getting 332 HP at like 6-6.5 psi. It was better than before but I can't understand why I am getting different psi in different gears. Since the supercharger is controlled by the belt should'nt I get the same boost in all gears. I tried calling Vortech but they had no idea what was going on and didn't seem very helpful. Also the way he adjusted the BOV when I let off the pedal if flutters as the air is let out. Anybody have some ideas what is going on? I am going to take it back to my friends shop where we installed and we are going to look around but we are not exactly sure what we are looking for. I am also using the 3.12 pulley instead of the 3.33 which should have gave me around 9 psi. Any help is welcome.
Just make sure that your blow off valve does not make that fluttering noise its not good for the blower. I had to have my Vortech rebuilt after keeping it like that. I would think that the belt is the problem. Good Luck!!!
Are you running a larger plenum i.e. crawford?? Are you running a dual exhaust?? Are you running headers?? Are you running hi-flow cats.
The more you say yes to the above, the freeer flowing your engine is and hence you will lose boost .....I am only running about 6.5lbs with all of the above
But your rWHP should still be 350-400.
Any leaks in the intake??
Are you way above sea level??
DO have a "muffler" air filter on the BOV??
Farg I don't know man....

Check the belt. Sounds like you may have some slippage going on there. Also, double check your vacuum lines. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Well I am running an Injen SES Exhaust and XERD Test pipes and thats the only other mods I have. I figured I might not get full boost because of a more free flowing exhaust but I am missing about 3-5 pounds of boost (with the 2.12 making 9 psi). As for the belt I changed from the one Vortech kit to the gates equivalent and have alreday tightened it twice. The belt is not slipping even with my lights on, ac on, and sound system as loud as it can go. I am in Miami so I am at sea level so that is not the problem either. As for the vacuum lines I have them running from the fmu to the manifold with it being tapped by both the bov and the SS box. I also noticed today that the charger itself is making a really high pitched noise at idle. Not the whine of the charger but like a noise that you would here on the radio when they make those safety tests. Not sure if this is normal. Is there anything else you guys can think of.
