Using a torque plate
I've read all over the place that its a good idea to use a torque plate with the VQ. However, the shop that built my motor didn't use one. I asked them why they didn't and they told me 1. because they didn't have one and 2. because the head bolts are so far away from the sleeves that it wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
Has anyone had problems with a built motor that did NOT use a torque plate? What kind of things should I look for?
Thanks,

I quit smoking on July 11th, 2001 after smoking a pack a day for about five years. At $3 a day I've saved a ton! Keep it up, and buy lots of blow pops and jolley ranchers!
after the 5th day or so it got a lot easier... mentally i want one, but i know if i were to even take one puff my body would kill me right now... it seriously feels like i would choke if i tried.
