Default Choking feeling??

Ok I was wondering if anyone else with the Turbonetics ST kit has ever experience a choking or hesitating feeling with their car. ex: Lets say you are at about 4k rpms and you hit wide open throttle then at about 5k rpm you feel a choking feeling no rpm increase. Any ideas??? Only happens sometimes.

Nope not at all....Could be the AFR going very rich as a result of the lower compression on your motor. What is your AFR.

I would have thought so but he is running 8.5:1 or 9:1 compression with the out of box boost on the Turbonetics kit. Something tells me his AFR is in the 9s or lower. Time to bump the boost...

Hey Shervin, I've seen your chart...worse than mine as far as OTC rich....At 4K, your A/F is probably nearing the high 8's, so it's probably just bogging with all the fuel. You and I need to talk about our tuning options...The EU is lookin' real good at this point.

Don't have that feeling either! But I just bought the CP Piston 8:5:1 in stock bore like you and probably eill buy the pauter rods and ARP head stud/main bolts. I just want to be in the safe side so that nothing break later on. Wonder what those things can help my engine? I'm a newbie to this Hope you find and fixed your problem soon.

Stock bore will be noisy (piston slap) I think...

could be a boost leak, thats what mine was doing, id floor it and i couldnt tell a difference for about 500 rpms then boost would hit, i was blowing the intercooler coupler off a little and the turbo was having to overcome the leak, check all your connectors.

You are correct. Booger has stock bore on his built motor and he has piston slap.

Might as well drop in some cams while you're in there. Also, pick up a CJM fuel system, an Emanage Ultimate, and boost controller. Once you have that built motor you'll always be wanting MORE BOOST.

ARG! Should do some more homework before I bought it. So how much over bore I should do it? Can I send it to somewhere to get that done or I can't? How much will it be to send them in to get over bore? Thanks.

Anyone ever used the Emanage to REMOVE fuel, not add? I have one sitting on my desk w/ Autosport harness ready to go, but I'm not sure if it'll do what I need it to.

Most would suggest 20 thousandths overbore at minimum. Even very low mileage engines have some taper in these motors. You have to get the block itself bored out for the larger pistons. The pistons you purchased will not work. You will have to purchase new pistons and try to sell the stock bore ones you already have.

I don't have the Turbonetics ST kit, but a Greddy TT kit with a walbro 255lph pump. About a year ago, my car was doing the same thing as you described. After getting it on the dyno to see what was going on, it was found to be dropping fuel pressure and was lean at around 5000 rpm and up because air was leaking into the fuel system via a small hole in the nipple to the fuel pump. It might not hurt to get it on a dyno to see what's going on. Just my 2 cents.
