Default Greddy TT and Unichip is a charm!

Just picked up my car from Scott Performance a week ago, and all I can say is WOW! My car runs much smoother and idles a lot smoother than my old Greddy blue E-Manage. My car runs much stronger and a lot more responsive than before. When the EM was installed, my idle was just jumping up and down, but ever since the Unichip was installed, it fixed the rough idle. Ted said it was putting out around 430whp at 7Psi's. He said he got it up to about 470whp at 9psi, but had to turn it down cause my fuel system couldn't handle it. He already ordered me a fuel pump and regulator to correct this problem. Here are some photos I took after washing my car.

some engine shots

The mods are:
Kinetix SSV IM
SP cams
JWT clutch and flywheel
JE pistons (I think)
Carillo rods
Unichip

I think I might be one of the first ones to go this route, having a Greddy with an APS tune.

So with the addition of the rods/pistons was there anything else you needed? Kuz I plan on gettin the TT kit with just rods/pistons and using the emanage...Is there any other parts I need to make the rods/pistons work for my stock block? 1 more question; how much boost can u run safely assuming I would have the pistons/rods/timing harness/fuel pump/fuel return ?
Thanks...

Thanks, I was there today. Saw your water injection container in the rear of your trunk. Man your car is going to put out so much power with the water injector/methanol injection. Your car should be out soon. Cant wait for the meet. I do want to try and get into the 11's or low 12's though. Maybe later when I get my confidence back (the last time I went, I blew a piston ring) I will head out there with you.

If I was you, i would rather get the Unichip instead of the emanage. You will notice much of a difference with the Unichip, I know I did. How much boost your engine can handle depends on how your fuel setup is and the tune. I myself need to address the fuel system. You should be safe up to 7-9 psi on stock fuel system. Anything higher will need an upgraded fuel system. I would suggest getting cams done as well since you will be putting in the rods and pistons, this will save you time and labor. You will feel much more power in the lower rpms.

Just a note.. The key to using the unichip, is having access to someone who can tune it like Ted. If someone does not have access to the same set(dyno and knowing the unichip) up as Scott Performance has, the results won't be the same. Scott Performance has a lot of experience with the chip, thus the good results everyone is seeing. In the cases I have seen, the people who had good results from the Unichip are the ones who were able to get it dyno tuned at an authorized dealer.

Glad you are enjoying your beast!

Absolutely correct. Properly tuned cars will run just like this....regardless of Unichip, eManage, FCON..etc. The key factor, is finding an excellent and experienced tuner, of whatever engine management system you decide to use.

I am glad your car tuned out nicely, and it looks GREAT!

FYI....IMHO, anything about 7-8psi should demand a full return fuel system. APS includes a modified return fuel system in their kit...for precisely this reason. The car is easier to tune, and much safer with a return system.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I gotta question for Sharif since you know a whole lot about the greddy kit...With the kit/bov/fuel return/timing harness/fuel pump/boost controller/gauges/and pistons/rods, will my car be ok? Or is there something else im missing here? I can just have the rods and pistons put in correct? I don't need anything else to make that work...?
Thanks man

Thanks Sharif, Yeah Ted is getting me the APS fuel system to help with the tune. Feels so much better knowing that my car is tuned correctly. You are correct about everything. Its all on the tuner. Now I am just waiting for the upcoming TI meet. 100+ cars woot!

Yes, plus you need head/main studs, and some OEM items like bearings, gaskets, and rear main seal. Of course, as you increase the power, things like clutches, diffs, suspension, etc....should be upgraded as well. Its advisable to build the car up in a balanced fashion.

I didnt have a chance to try it with and without the IM. My psi was raised so I wont be able to tell if it made a difference. But all I can say is that it looks nice and adds so much bling to the engine.

I bet they don't make a difference for F/I. I mean the plenum is already pressurized to the max anyway.

I saw it there today when I stopped by. I thought, WTF a fuel cell? Then I realized what it had to be because I knew Bigbri was getting it. They were filling it by the time I left so it's almost ready. Bigbri, I suppose Ted's going to tune it again for that? Oh well it was parked on the dyno already.

My Z was right in the middle of getting cammed and the headers were already in there
