i finally got my car on the dyno today, wanted to see what kind of power i was putting down and wanted to dial in the timing...(keep in mind, i was running off of a street tune since i installed the EU)
so, I did all the tuning myself with the EU software...unfortunately, something happened this morning (go figure ) where i couldn't log the A/F...so that kinda made things more difficult than they needed to be, even with that hurdle, got the A/F dialed in pretty close and made 100 more hp and 100 more ft lbs of torque from 4500-5500rpm!!!!!
Final product:
552 rwhp
548 tq
@ 15.5 psi (stock heads/stock cams)
also noticed, the coolant temps never got over 205-210...then after a pull would QUICKLY drop to 195!!! impressive new 3" exhaust really helped solve the coolant temp issue, as before, on the dyno, my car was reaching 220-225 and it would take a minute or two to drop below 200!!!
check out the dyno sheets:
kind of faint lines, look really carefully, the lines are there

comparison... the red line is the first pull this morning, prior to any tuning, the blue line is the final product:

not too bad for an beginner tuner

Great numbers. Any plans on heads and cams? These graphs are a perfect example of how the stock heads and cams run out of steam past 5500rpm's. All that torque has got to be addicting.

i do think they WILL work on a F/I setup, just not for the type of power or abuse that i love to inflict...
I'm sure the engine temps (coolant) didn't help the situation, now things are much cooler, and the pistons are MUCH stronger...
watch out in the future for my next motor...darton sleeved, same forged internals, cams, and headwork...700-800rwhp..here i come (gimme a couple of months)

Good work Todd. The power is leveling off a little too soon...but granted...you have stock cams and heads. That is probably as much timing as you can run, without using higher octane fuel.
Oh, and easy on those Arias pistons. I am using the same "sub standard" design as you put it. I think the first piston broke, clearly due to detonation. Yes, the extreme duty Arias pistons can hold up to more abuse. But I dont exactly drive like Miss Daisy, and I am using the older design at 600whp+....no problems whatsoever.
In the vast majority of cases, engines break due to poor tuning, or failure or weakness in a sub system...such as oil, cooling, injectors, fuel pump, boost controller etc.
That said, our next motor will have Darton sleeves, and the Arias Extreme Duty pistons.

What did you end up with for a timing curve???
