Sharif,

If you're talking about Tuan / GRD, he's not married as far as I know and his girlfriend doesn't drive it either. He let's anyone beat on his 500whp stock block Z, who's even the least bit interested in going FI with GRD. I believe that's who BriGuy is talking about. Tuan's been running on a stock block for over a year now.

It was just rumor on my part, so if I got it wrong, my appologies. The point I was ineptly trying to make, is that I would like see many examples of 500whp+ cars running around on stock blocks....rather than a one or two examples.

There are a few other APS TT guys over 500whp..can't remember their usernames at the current moment..but I know theres 3 or 4.

Oh and there's that Greddy G35 in PR that has something like 517 to the wheels on the stock motor and he takes the car to the track all the time.

I think you are refering to the two Carlos's (both of them are customer's of mine from Peurto Rico)....both are 500whp plus. I know for sure one of them is built, and I thought there other one was too.

Greddy with 20 g turbo upgrades should get you up with with minor engine mods ex cams, crank pulley, plenum, bored throtal body, ecu re-flash- technosquare turbo tune, full 3" exhaust no cats... and some other things. Should be up there with propper tuning and install.... get EU instead of the basic emanage.

can we install 05 synchros for 2003 or 2004 Z gearsets or do we need to get the whole gearset? Does 2005 gearset fit into the 2003 - 2004 gearcase?

I really don't think that would be worth the hassle of taking the tranny out, then completely tearing it down for new sychros. At least it would be to much of a hassle from my perspective.

Yeah, if anyone has opened up the tranny casing, you know is pretty f'ing scary...LOL. If you thought a Swiss watch was complicated, take a look inside a typical 5 or 6 speed transmission gear box. Apparently, its cheaper to buy a new tranny, as Nissan, for warranty repairs, does not replace sychros, they replace the tranny. I had heard from a dealer that a parts kit isnt even available, so that is part of the problem. Maybe things have changed, but at the end of the day, its probably easier and safer just to do a tranny swap.

I just had my gear box swapped at nissan dealer a month or so ago. Do you think it may be an '05 box they put in?

Oh and i almost forgot. Don't forget Bigbri. He's APS'd at over 500whp with stock block, has custom cams and water alcohol injection. But he just got that way recently so we'll see what happens with him.

If it was 1 month ago, it's almost definately the version 9 tranny. You can examine the tranny, I believe on the passenger side there is a tag with the version number.

I spoke to the Carlos's from PR, and they are running racing fuel exlusively on their blocks. Don't misunderstand me, I really hope the VQ proves to be reliable at 500whp+ on pump gas, but only time will tell.

ok..gotcha. So you both have forged internals? I am sorry I get you both confused...as you are both Carlos..and both from PR. Did you get my email regarding the axles? I can supply that shop you talked about, as I am a warehouse distributor for DSS.

Wasn't Carlitos's car stock motor a couple months ago when he was running around 500whp? He said it was in the video thread where he went mid 11s...

Look at my sig.....My car reliable.. my car is daily driven...??? I think as long as you have a good tune, and arn't running lean.. you fine the vq is a very strong engine... it's just bad tunes and detination thats blowing them I don't care if your built or not detination will blow your motor...now if I was tracking my car every week for hours at a time then sure I'd build my block because that kind of abuse need a built up block 400whp and up I feel... my 2 cents..

After doing alot of research on water/alcohol injection I believe that is a large part of your success with 500+rwhp, which is why I plan on buying my WI kit tommorow or wednesday. From what I have read the alcohol actually acts as an octane booster and the water acts almost as a second intercooler. I wonder success rates of 500+rwhp w/o water/alcohol injection...i would guess noticably worse.

I agree 100% with you bro... but it can be done on a stock block with the right setup.. Let me know how you w/a injection goes....
