looking for TT's.. 500RWHP+
i'm researching for a twinturbo kit that gains 500-600+ RWHP (w/ or w/o block rebuild, cam, header, and other upgrades). basically i'm looking for ppl who did twinturbo to their Z and wants to know what you did to gain at least that much. i'm looking for at least 500RWHP. Greddy or APS?
thanks!
thanks!

Really, either one will get you there, so it's your choice. APS is coming out with a tuner kit that won't have a fuel system or engine management soon. So you may want to wait and check that out.
Spend a few days surfing the various boards, and you will find many happy people running 500-600whp and more. The route to get there can vary, and there is a big difference between a 500whp build, and a 600whp+ build, especially as it relates to the sub-systems that need upgrading..like clutchs and differentials..etc.
Welcome! Here to help...
The Greddy TT kit, and the APS TT kit will both deliver for you...they just approach the power in different ways, and require different additions to the kit.

This is just an estimate. It could end up being more or less depending on what parts you get. I put accessories as stuff that you would prolly want but dont necessary have to have (pulleys, upgrades bov, oil cooler, ect.)

I've been running at 600whp+ for about 1500miles so far, and really beating the crap out of the car.
Lot lots of freeway pulls, and 10 passes at the 1/4 mile track with my slipping clutch..which was pretty much a waste of time.I installed the triple disc ATS carbon on Friday, along with the new 2005 350Z tranny, and the shifting is AMAZING. And damn...this clutch REALLY bites when its warm, and never even hints of slipping when its cold.

You are probably looking at "about" $25K in parts, when you include things like wheels, suspension, body kits, brake kits, seats, interior, gauges, and of course, all the engine internals, drivetrain, axles..etc.

The next step for me is 650cc injectors, and I'll retune the car. I think 700whp is coming soon. Since its not possible to retorque the head studs without removing half of the engine, I have a feeling that the first signs of head lift/head gasket leakage, or going to be seen at 700whp.
Rumor on the street, from those boys at Performance Motorsports, is that the stock sleeves/headgasket started to fail at 650whp or so.

So next year when i do the built motor, maybe i'll find an '05 donor so i can get the tranny as well. More internal changes? Any idea what exactly they are?

Sure,
They revised the syncros, so the shifting is much faster and smoother, and doesnt feel as vague as the old version. It should also reduce the chance of grinding, which was a constant problem with the old trannys. The 05 "Version 9" tranny is a direct bolt up, without any mods.
Your TT estimate with install seems low, and your clutch estimate seems high, assuming that the clutch install could be done when the engine was already out being built. Also, I wonder if it would make sense to add an oil cooler, seeing as how heat seems to be public enemy #1 above 550whp.

Suspension for 2500 bucks? I am more than happy with my $380 hotchkis TVS. You don't 'need' new wheels and tires for a combined $3200. You don't 'need' a $3000 clutch. There are cheaper setups that will hold the power.
Why an ECU flash for 600 if you are running an engine management for $500? Better yet, if you go APS, the engine management is included with the kit. You can get to 500+ rwhp without a full longblock build, so you could save $5-6K right there.
There is a big difference between a 500+ rwhp build and a 600+ rwhp build. I am looking at right around 500 rwhp on my setup when it's complete and I don't want to get into specifics, but my buid including my TT kit was about 1/3 of what those numbers up there total. That said, I would like to get a BBK.

500whp on a stock block, driven hard, hasnt been provide reliable just yet.
I dont think the poster was putting up the estimate so that we could all pick it apart...LOL...I too had to show great restraint. I think that point he is making, is that a good number of the car sub-systems need upgrading as well. if you are building a 600whp "engine" that is one thing, and we could do that pretty cheap, relatively. But what fun would that be, running a stock clutch and tires. I am just using this as an example, as the best cars will take a balanced approach to power, drivetrain, suspension, and brakes; and this is how the tab can really start to get high.
