Lets see if this theory holds true then,

Does your car have between 30k - 50k+ miles on it. I noticed once i hit around 40k, everything starting to loosen up a bit and produce more power. I however wasnt boosted til nearly 30k miles.

So, how many miles are on your Z?

Great numbers, that is one torquey s/c Z! I would love to see a video of your car going through the gears, either from outside or inside....

Yes, SS box and stock injectors. The next two mods I'm looking at are a fuel system upgrade and an aftermarket LSD.

Your theory is safe! I will turn over 40K this weekend. I've had most of the NA mods since 8K miles and the SC since 16K miles.

I'll see what I can do about that. I'll be at Tail of the Dragon this weekend and hopefully will get some runs in with an external camera mounted.

Cant wait to see your Z this weekend. I will be there as well. I finally got everything worked out after taking mine to CP Racing. BTW, congrats on your new numbers. Amazing!

I would be careful with the stock injectors at that power level...they are definitely running at a VERY VERY high duty cycle.

I know... thing I've wondered and which no one has been able to answer is at what point am I hitting a VERY VERY high duty cycle? I mean, if I'm only hitting it, say, from 6200rpm up, I'm not terribly concerned. On the other hand, if I'm hitting high duty cycle from 5000rpm and up, it's a much different story.

I think this is another area where maybe SC has an advantage over TT. Because your peak power is made at the end of our power band instead of somewhere in the middle, you can probably get away with taxing the fuel system this way.

Regardless, I agree with what you're saying and will be exploring some fuel system solutions over the winter.

Nano what's wrong with my sig??? It shows the numbers I'm running now.

Now I have to go back. So you gutted your cats and added the clutch and flywheel, right?

Bastard.

Gutting the cats was not really by choice. I had one empty and had to make the other one match.

I'll be waiting for you to catch up again, Jeremy!

in the meantime, mcduck has some powder coating to do to his strut bar and hood brace...

Superb numbers BTW; green and jealous.

Yes I agree, since you run at peak power (hence strain on injectors) proportionately for a very low percentage of the time vs TT.

Also keep in mind that to acheive this power, the Vortech system is running well over 100psi of fuel pressure through stock lines and injectors...its close to 120psi at redline. So although the injectors may not be hitting 100% duty cycle until you approach redline, there is extreme stress on the injectors, lines, etc..due to the excessively high fuel pressure. Industry standard is 42.3psi, and anything above about 70psi of fuel pressure is getting into the danger zone.

But wow...great numbers Andy....and nice work by Eric and his team

So what you are saying is the car is running on the brink of disaster? Is that safe running 120psi of fuel pressure?

Well, safe is a relative term. It is safer to run at 45psi of fuel pressure at 80% duty cycle. A return system is $999 plus the cost of the injectors ($530), so it is a more expensive option, and not everyone wants to spend that kind of money for the better setup.

Since I imagine McDuck isnt running at 100% duty cycle all the time, the kit is safe during normal operation anyways.

Bottom line is I need to upgrade my fuel system. I'm aware of that and have talked to Sharif about this in the past. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Hopefully it's one of the projects I can work in over the winter. With any luck, I won't have any issues before that happens.

NANO: My car did hit 457/380 numbers, but that was prior to dialing the timing back. The numbers in my sig represent the tune that is actually on the car now.

Does Sloe Truk have a Lightning? I think I know him from the Lightning forums..

120psi of fuel pressure? Yikes that is tempting fate in my book. Awesome number you put down. I'd be leary of boosting with that kind of FP though.
