I have the HKS stainless steel universal mufflers. Is it necessary to use a strap-type bracket that wraps around the can to weld the hanger to, or is it safe to just weld the hanger straight onto the top of the can? SFR was worried about the can being to thin to support itself and eventually tear away from the hanger.

 

nm, I think they're going to try to get some large band clamps instead.

 

No band clamp needed. Your guy can weld a hanger right to the can...done it many times before.
