Default Question on SC a stick v auto

Can anyone give me an idea that if both a stick and an auto were both SC and had exactly the same mods, would they produce the same HP and torque or is there a difference in drivetrain loss between the two models.
I am trying to work out what I should be producing HP wise and if using a stick is a good comparision.

well what i heard is that stick makes slightly more power then AT. But supposely AT is faster ( not of the hole) cause you dont loose boost during shifts. Thats what ive heard dont know if its true.

The 6MT will make more power from what I have seen. Sungnamz has almost the same mods as me. He has high flow cats where I dont and he has raised the rev limiter. I (5AT) am puting down 367RWHP and he (6MT) is puting down somewhere in the neighborhood of 425RWHP. I dont think the raised rev limiter is getting him 58 more RWHP.

I also think it really depends on the motor. The variation of RWHP on a stock motor is great! So it all really depends on where you started as far as power is concerned.

Thaks for the info. I have my car in the shop being dyno tuned today and I have the following mods;

Vortech with 3.12 pulley
DC headers
Crawford cats
Y pipe
Exhaust
JWT cams
Raised rev limiter.

So I was just trying to get a ball park figure.

keep us posted on the result. I would think after tuning, u should make somewhere around 400-410. I am going the same route as u for my g35 AT except i'm not doing exhaust or cams but I do have the plenum instead. I would really like to know the dyno results once u are done.

Sorry Zach, but I must jump in with a correction! I have a "5AT".

From what we've seen the 6spd's always make more power than AT's.

Well I have not got the final numbers from Rob yet as he is just finishing up the car but he told me that even with the Limited Flash the car still hits the rev limiter in every gear when he gets on it, as far as I know the L flash does not change the shifting pattern but just raises the rev line, can someone confirm this. All I know is that the SGP upgrade is the only thing that can make it shift faster so that looks like my next mod.

From what I have read, this sounds right. Why not just run the car in manual mode so you can control where your shift points are?

That is what I do when I am in the racing kind of mood, otherwise to go to work and just plod around town I have it in Auto.
Well I just got back with the car and I get 415rwhp and 320trq. I also hit between 10 and sometimes 10.5 psi, the only issue I have with the car is I need to get the Kenstyle front bumper on as my IC is getting heatsoaked and they had to pull more timing than usual for safety reasons. I wil go back and retune it when I get the bumper on.
Other than that I am happy

Did he try it on the street ? or the dyno ? It may not shift on the dyno but will on the street . Mine did that . We tried to do a 1/4 mile run on the Mustang dyno , but it wouldnt shift and hit the rev limiter

Hey booger, yep we went for a run around 11 this morning and it did the same on the road test, it seems to pick up real fast and probably does not give the VB time to shift into the next gear. That is my next mod after I get more air flow to the IC.

will a valve body change (SGP) this? When i go wot in regular mode....it easily hits 7100. It doesnt hit the rev b/c i take my foot off the gas but i have seen my needle pass 7200 before (inertia).....not my cup of tea. I start to ease off the gas at about 6000 and it'll shift about 6800.

The tach's in these cars are off by as much as 500rpm's . Mine is 400 to 500rpm's off in the upper rpm range

so...when the redline on my car is 6800...does that mean i get into the danger zone at 6800 real RPMs or tach 6800rpms? Another words...is the redline already taking into account the mis-readings?

Does that mean your car shifts (per the tach) at like 7500??

g8tor20 I do the same thing as you if I am in Auto mod, I floor the car and then just as I get 6500rpm I let off a tad and it will shift to the next gear and I do the same all over again.
