Honest Assesment
I have been reading most of the threads here on force induction. The numbers are great and threads were interesting. I am hoping that this can stay on topic but I would a honest assesment. Of course I am thinking about FI (TT), however if you had to choose between installing a kit or purchase Corvette Z06, which would you prefer? I have added and subtracted the cost and I the final choice would be mine. But for those who are drive TT and SC 350Z and G35, would you turn it in for Z06. I have a year or six months to think about it before I return but there is no such thing as too much input

Unless you plan on going super super crazy with the mods, might as well get the Z06. It will take a lot more mods then a TT to hang with a Z06 from all angles of performance... that is if your talking about the new C6 Z06, if its the C5 Z06, a TT kit tuned up to 450rwhp will pull away from one, and some wheels/tires/coilovers/brake pads, and you should be all over a C5 Z06.
some of the mag reviews say the Z06 is awesome, but is pretty numb feeling. The Z isn't super feely or anything, but it might be more so than the Z06.
That said, if you like the new corvettes, then go for the Z06. Much less headaches. More potential, etc

go for the Z06. I bent a rod on my stock motor and now on my built motor I think I have blown the driver's side piston rings. I know there are a lot of people that have TT kits without any problems, but I just don't have any luck. There is a guy on the vette forums that dynoed his Z06 and in stock form put down 443whp. After installing cams, air filter, and long tube headers without any tuning he got it up to 505whp. With all the money I have spent I could bought a Z06 and had money left over. I love my car, but heavily modding it didn't work to well for me.
Well it all depends, if you are going to just drop the TT in with really no other mods, then the ZO6 will be quicker....but if you go all out with the TT, building your motor and all that good stuff, then your Z will be one fast Z and you would probably be faster (depending on what you do).... As well, which car do you like/looks better for you? Is warranty something you would want? Personally I'd rather make the car a project and be able to work with aftermarket products to make it my own car! So in that regards i'd rather take a TT Z over the ZO6. But its up to you! if you still have a year and half- 2years to go, why not also look into the new GTR?

that's true! But let me tell you, there will be issues with every car...Im sure the Vettes are good and all, but my friends C6 has been in the shop for (if i recall correctly) 17-18 different issues and its less than a year old! So it all depends on how you look at it...obviously there will be more of a risk with the TT as there is so much that goes into it.

i almost got a 02 zo6 but decided on the Z cause i already have 2 vettes highly modded and wanted a car that was easy to drive on the street. well if you look at my sig i couldn't leave well enough alone with the Z. if i would have known then what i do now, i should have prolly done the z06, lol.way more aftermarket for the vette so it is cheaper, plus performance is so good to start with.
if you are talking an 06 Z06, fugitaboutit!!! Z06 all the way!!!! 11.7's on stock tires from the factory. think of what a few bolt ons and slicks will do!!!

I am planning on purchasing the 06 or 07 Z06. I have a 05 350 Touring. I was planning on going all out, spending maybe 10 or 15 g's. I could trade my Z in take that 15 gs and put in on the down payment. I also agree mods are fun. I have had so much luck with my Z, it might be hard to part with it. I have gotten m ore people to walk up to my car with no mods and tell me how good it looks even other vettes passing me buy on the highway. As for the GTR, I think I will end up doing the same with Z, seeking more power. Some cars are just made for mods. i appreciate the comments it has be helpful thus far.

I'm guessing all those issues are non motor related. Things like that usually happen the first year a new model car comes out.......eg 350z tire feathering, grinding gears, bad tranmissions, clicking axle noise, bad power window motors, etc etc. One plus about your friends issues is that were all fixed for free.
My car has nearly sucked all the money I had/have. I have yet to reach the price of a Z06 Even if I had, I wouldn't have second thoughts about whether the vette would have been a better choice. To me, the Z06 is an awesome car, but it is still a GM. the peformance numbers could be even better than they are now and I still wouldn't buy one.
The Z is the car I always wanted. I have astronomical #s with the addition of a TT kit and the car is a BLAST to drive. ZO6 doesn't hold a candle IMO to the look of my Z.
What I think I am getting at is, how big of a Z fan are you? If it is just a car, then I would think the vette might be more of an appealling option. That said, no big *** v8 is going to give me as much of a rush as spooling up my turbos on my Z - even if it still maybe faster.

I have to disagree with this unless your are a professional driver. Most Z and G TT 1/4 mile times are in the high elevens and low 12 with good driver that gets a good launch. Someone posted a video of a stock Z06 in action. 11.77 @ 125 mph with a horrible launch. Imagine what it could do with good driver and some mods....cams, long tube headers, air filter, retune that should put it at 520whp. All I see with built Z and G, is that the more power you add the slower the 1/4 mile times cause of traction. The Z06 gets the power to the ground. Also the regular C6 tops out at 187 MPH stock. Imagine what the Z06 will do.
Look at this Z06 againts CL65 TT Benz with exhaust and flash that has over 600whp and 700 tq. The Z06 got beat but it held its own. Add a few bolt on and that outcome will change. Their were going 165mph+. I would dare try that in my car. I would be to affraid of blowing the motor. Sorry all! This modding chit is just to unreliable for me.

Zivman I am a Z fan, and the car looks are better than the vette. I guess it is where your heart is. Like Gman states also, that the more power to put to the wheels the harder it is to keep the tires on the ground. I went to see a vette and the salesman in the dealership called everyone out to see my car. That was three months ago. It is hard to make a decision when people appreciate your car better than the one they are selling. I guess the only way is to test drive it and see how it feels. My other mistake was listening to the wife and getting a 5AT.
C6 ZO6 huh? we had a guy come through dmv bragging on how he spent 25,000 over msrp!!!!! the waiting list is long and if i had 95,000 dollars for the vette zO6 plus markup, i'd prod get a 03 350, build the motor and twin turbocharge it and still have thousands to do with whatever i want. btw, the vette is dead sexy!!

Wilric - If U're followed my latest threads U'll know that I'm dumping some SERIOUS cash into my G coupe
but if I could do it all over again ( or if I knew the ex was gonna make it difficult to see my grandkids!!
so I wouldn't need a back seat ), it's the 'Vette all the way!
Granted, my G got more attention at the car show last weekend than most of the late model Corvettes but if it's pure performance ya want I don't see how you CAN'T pick the Chevy.
The Z/G's are more refined & the quality ( fit & finish ) seems better so I guess it comes down to what U really prefer.
Remember that I've already had a Lingenfelter 'Vette so I've kinda already been there.
Good luck in whatever U decide!!
