problably on the z they have different part numbers. on the altima they are the same. i guess another reason could be that when you reinstall them this time you aligned the timing right? jwt cams are different in lenght. all of them are different.

all my timing marks were perfectly on from when i installed them before. and i realigned it exactly the same way. only difference was i found some remnance of the factory paint markings used for the original building of the motor on the cam gears marking which side they go on. i almost didn't change it, but glad i did. that is the only thing i did, was swap sides for the intake cam gears.

Over, how badly did the car run at part throttle, prior to the cam gear swap?

the car would idle decently, but part throttle would feel like a lag. you would have to push the gas a little, then glide, then push it again and glide. only way to drive the car and not get a po300 code. but once you got past 30-40% throttle, the car would all of a sudden run very close to perfect.
as mentioned earlier in this post, the intake cam gears are indexed identical and appear identical with no warning in the nissan shop manuals that they are different. it makes all the sence in the world now though, as when they advance the cam timing, they each have to turn different directions, making it so they have to be directional.
i was able to find the paint markings from the factory, and set then up identical to the factory, voila!! ran perfect and have never gotten a po300 in over 4 months now.
good luck, hopefully thats your fix.

Scott, how much leaner were you on 1-3-5? I'm running two widebands, an AEM and a PLX-R500, and at WOT they're pretty off- the passenger side will be mid 11's and the drivers will be in the low 10's or even 9's.

I'm also showing a P0011 code (intake valve timing control), as well as the random misfire code.

at idle and low throttle cruise i was like 16-17, while the other side was about 13. so it was quite different. didn't get a chance to test higher boost conditions.
you may want to try and pull your rear cam sensors and clean them. a new motor being broken in will leave some metal slurry on the magnetic pickups from the bearing and ring seating.
any other drivability conditions?

At idle, mine are pretty close. No other drivability concerns, really. Just at WOT, one side is way off from the other. I know it's not just the gauge either, cause I swapped sides and one still shows leaner than the other.

man, really hard to tell. you would need to check injectors, intake distribution, cam timing advance, and a few others to figure out the problem. i have had some weird issues with my aem wideband though. where right before it went it said i was offscale lean at high boost, then i put in another and i was off scale rich during the same condition. this aem gauge is also reading about .4 or so richer than the last one.
