Default Turbo Kit Question

I am a NoOb when it comes to forced induction so please bare with me...

A local Z owner has a Greddy TT kit on his Z and he claims to have bought something that he used to tune his turbos for boost to kick in at 2200 RPMs. Is this possible or is he full of s**t?

My Z is mostly used for track racing so I was heavily leaning towards a Stillen supercharger for the linear power. If I can get a turbo system that will have boost kick in at 2200rpm that may change my mind since I don't think I ever get below 2000 rpm on the track.

in racing conditions your turbos will be spooled up pretty good even at lower rpm's, so it will be abit more linear power delivery.

Stillen supercharger is great just dont forget you have to buy a new hood tho- lots of people dont know about that and it turns people away so thats just a heads up if you didnt know?

^^^Believe me I have done my research on Stillen's system and am well aware of what it has to offer and what extra parts I need to get it done. I just haven't ventured into the turbo systems. I have driven both an APS single turbo Z and a Stillen Stage 3 Z and I can definately tell the difference in the power bands. My friend with the APS single turbo also does track racing and he backs up my concern about hitting boost in the middle of a turn. I have watched him hit boost in the turn before and watch the back of his car quickly trade places with the front.

We (heavily) track our FI Z's and G's with TT systems and the Stillen/Eaten S/C. They both do have their distinct characteristics. Get ahold of me for more info on what you are trying to find out.

Go check our video out on our website. http://www.violentracing.com/

Default your car

Mike (350ZNV), Can't wait to get started on your car . It is going to be interesting to see what we can do with a weight stripped Z.

I think your friend is pulling you leg. With a boost controller, and larger free flowing exhuast, you can get the turbos to spool up faster. But there isnt a magic bullet to make a turbo spool up at 2200rpm.

I will call you today Scott. I just got the suspension and test pipes in so the last thing I need to get it back on the ground and over to you is the wheels and tires which should be here early next week. I am thinking of bringing it down the weekend before Christmas or Christmas weekend if you are still in town. I have a couple more questions to ask you to.

actually there is. ever heard of an anti lag system? it lets fuel go into the manifold causing it to ignite, spooling the turbo while the drivetrain is disengaged. in drag racing this is used to allow a manual car to launch with boost.
