What does the pcv vent filter do? What did you do with the air breather line that is installed into the back of the vortech supplied air filter ?

I took the fitting off of the hose that was attached to the stock Vortech filter and put a K&N filter part # 62-1020 on the vent hose. Above pictures.

I got sick about how the stock Voctech filter is mounted so I did this with 3.5" silicone, 90 deg. sweep in stainless and new K&N filter.. look at picts!!
Kevin,

I was looking on Turbohoses' website and found a Vortech SC hose replacement kit for the Z. Is this by chance the filter relocation kit or something else? Do you know?

Thanks,
Zach

No, the Vortech kit only replaces all the silicone unions betwen the hard pipeing, I spoke with Hover from Turbohoses about it, about the only reason i guess you would do this if for cosmetic reasons. This kit does NOT relocate the filter.

are you guys seeing any boost gains when using the larger cfm filters? I know on maxima's when they switch to a CAI setup they see +1psi usually.

I just called turbohoses.com and ordered the 3.5" 90 degree SS tube and a 3.5" X 3" coupler (which I will try to use in place of the silicon hose kevinapex ordered because it is only $18 instead of $68)

They have two 3.5" 90 degree SS tubes left. The silicon hoses are in stock in black, blue and red. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Why are we using SS instead of aluminum? Its lighter and should be cheaper. Has anyone bought the aluminum pipe and if so, whats the cost? I think Im going to go with the aluminum pipe instead of the SS one, if it's cheaper that is.

Keep us posted. I got the parts weeks ago and still have not gotten around to installing everything. Did you use the same parts that I PM'd you about?

I'm not sure of the part number on the pipe, but I believe it is the same one. 3.5" 90 degrees.

I am going to try a 3.5" coupler which is 3" in length (we will see when I get off of work if I need a longer piece)

The filter I bought is the same one kevinapex has on his car. I liked the fact that the top is not sealed off. (RX-4140)

Thanks for the input and help on this issue guys! I placed an order with Turbohoses today for the following:

1-90 deg. mild steel bent pipe
1-6" long X 3.5" ID blue silicon hose
2-hose clamps

I went with the mild steel because it is cheaper (1/2 the cost of SS) and I can coat it with something for much less! My total shipped cost was around $90. Hopefully this will be here early next week and I can get it installed and show some pix.

Thanks again guys!!!

VERY IMPORTANT!!! 3.5"x3" coupler is TOO SHORT. You need at least 5 inches of silicon hose to make it fit. I am going to go to turbohoses.com tomorrow since they are local and pick up a longer piece.

There is definitely some dremel work to be done. I will take some pictures and post them in a little bit.

In the first picture you can see where I had to dremel to get the pipe to fit. I still have some clean up work and smoothing out to do: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/omfgti...cd.jpg&.src=ph

In the second picture you can see that I came up short: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/omfgti...cd.jpg&.src=ph

Also, if you have an aftermarket radiator (I have Koyo) I had to bend part of the bracket. If anyone wants pictures of that, please let me know.

Finally finished this afternoon a after getting the 3.5"x6" silicon hose from turbohoses.com. I had to cut like a 1/2" off to get it to fit. Otherwise in runs into the radiator support.

For anyone with a Koyo radiator or any other radiator that is bigger than the stock one, it is a pain in the *** to work around.

I don't know if it makes a difference where the filter is placed. After finishing I can tell that kevinapex did a little more dremel work than I did.
