This sistuation was likely caused by an improper routing of the return oil line which was in no way TN's fault. I asked the shop to shorten it and route it correctly when they had to move it from it's original location to mount my new wastegate. The shop didn't listen and immediately after when the car was on the dyno I noticed it blowing smoke hard. I asked about it and was told it was decel fuel burning and that it would be corrected with the tune.

I checked the oil return line when I got home, and noticed they didn't shorten it when they re-routed it, and it was rerouted in a way that resulted in poor flow back into the pan. Sooooo who ends up paying for this b*llsh*t???? Me and Turbonetics.

True...well I certainly appreciate you explaining that...I kinda figured the turbo had to have something wrong with it for it to do that...Hopefully this new turbo works great and the issue never comes back..

Glad it turned out to be something relatively minor...Glad (but not surprised) that Turbonetics is taking good care of you.

You mean a Turbo company actually admitting their turbo had a problem and standing behind it?A+ IMO!!If only the "other" company that constantly blames install would step up

And the funny thing is that this turbo went bad becuase of the install not becuase it's a faulty unit.

Well, while I think it's reasonable to suspect this may be the case, there is no hard and fast proof that it was the routing of the oil line that caused the seal failure. It's possible that you just got a bad seal, and that with a different turbo, your install would have run flawlessly for years. I'm not casting stones at Tnetics by any means. Every tight-tolerance system like a turbo bearing-pack is going to have an occasional failure. I just think it's great that Tnetics is handling it the way they are (and the other issues that some of us are experiencing). Kelly (Likes to keep an open mind about these things)

I have two burned T3s with the same problem from a faulty oil pump.

Warmly,

I wonder if I would even notice if that happened to me! Is it pretty obvious when the seal is blown?

Yes a blown turbo seal is pretty obvious. As in HUGE cloud of white smoke coming off load... Usually these issues are caused by bad oil return design or routing. Of course the T3s lost their seals Mike the return pump wasn't running.
