Question Remote mounted turbo system (STS Turbo)

What do you all think about remote mounted turbo systems? It looks like there will be a twin turbo system coming out for the 350z soon.

I dunno man... look at his picture on how they mounted the intake. That sucker is kinda low to the ground. Also, looking at the piping makes me sick. One day he is going to catch a bump and all that is going to get dragged out from underneath... ouch

I think STS has proven themselves in the domestic market....I have not known them to develop applicatons for high compression foreign cars.

I would especially like to see what ECU mapping work(proven) they have....as compression goes up the engine control becomes more important.

There is a "old school muscle" enthusiast that lives near me with one...a Camaro(big block, positrak, etc) this set-up looks and seems to fit best on an American car that rides higher.....

They have a set-up for a Vette....I would love to see the air-intake piping for that.

The only concerns I have for the Z are:

-the length of the air-intake piping
-proven mapping for high compression motors
-maintenance of the air filter(for daily driver use)

Very true alot of American cars are using this setup... from what i have seen they dont put out great power and they have quite a bit of lag to. Cool for show and sound...(nice little whistle bov), but not worth the money.

The APS TT are installed under the motor so what is new - maybe that intake.
STS actually make a snorkel for it so you can drive in rain, sounds like they had problems with sucking in water.

It's good in markets that don't have the appropriate systems already available, like trucks and f-bodies. I can't see it doing well in the corvette market due to other systems, like LPE and APS, that don't have a JY look to them. If the 350z kit is anywhere near the price of the corvette system, it will seriously get laughed out of the market competing with PE, APS, and Greddy. Like I said, it does well in trucks which are typically quite high off the ground but the F-bodies and GTO's I have seen were not that impressive with the STS kits.

STS kits suck . There are 3-4 local fbodies blowing their motors off these locally, and even more across the board...Id stay away from any "remote" mount kits, stick with the proven ones from companies that arent using a "hidden" kit...

There was an auto gto running around a 10.7 with the STS, on stock cubes if I recall. I had an STS kit on my 03 RCSB Silverado with a 6.0 liter swap, when STS first came to the market. I had a GT-67 with a .96 a/r housing... the thing was a monster to say the least. On a stock 6.0 with just a turbo cam it put down around 590rwhp and 635lbs torque, with meth injection at 10psi on pump gas, through a 4L60E with a 3200stall converter. The ease of install and turbo upgradability, is the best features of the kit imo. I know the STS kit for vette had ground clearance issues with the charge piping, but it may have been worked out by now. This could also be a issue with such a kit on our cars. The STS systems work great on the bigger cube cars and trucks, but yet to be proven on the smaller displacement motors, where the long charge piping and exhaust route might bring a lot of lag. Lastly, there's already so many reasonably priced front mount single and twin kits for our cars, it would be hard for STS to compete.
