Default Vortech SC people....

Just got some questions for you.
Happy with the kit?
How many use the SS box that comes in the kit?
is the SS box tuneable?
How reliable has your setup been? If kept at stock boost, of course

Any other pertinent information would be great.

I ran a few searches and info was kinda sparse.

Happy with the get going with the 3.12 pulley on Thur. No SS box here. Get the tuner kit and a UTEC or EU and a Walboro 255 and injectors. Way better setup for the same $$$

basically, just assuming the SS box keeps the a/f in check, I'd most likely keep it at stock boost. I've got experience with tuning for a/fs and what not, but I don't want to deal with all that on this as a daily driver. Just plug 'n play, and go.

Anyone have the cheapest location to purchase this from? Found it on mynismo.com but most vendors don't carry it.

thanks for the help so far

I still have the SS box, but I droppped the FMU and aux fuel pump for the Walbro 255lph, bigger injectors and a one-of fuel system. As booger said, if you plan to stick with stock boost, the kit is good to go. The A/F is a little rich, but safe.

You might want to try Avalon Racing. They always have good prices.

well honestly, I want between 380-400whp. I've heard anything more than that is unsafe on stock internals. I figure I'd have to upgrade the pulley for that?

but also, it's not like I'm running stock exhaust. I'm also about to throw on the 5/16" isotherm spacer.

The kit will work , but you'll need the smaller pulley and tuned by some one that knows what they are doing...to get 380whp

so what's usually seen outta the box? closer to 350whp or so?

so if that's the case, I need to ditch the SS box and get the tuner kit or can I actually tune the SS box?

I have the Vortech with the SS box that was dynotuned. I am pushing 374rwhp on all stock. No larger injectors either. Out of the box the SS box was completely off. First run I pushed 280rwhp

The SplitSec Box is VERY tunable . JWT TT kit runs the SS Box . VRT tunes the JWT TT kit with it and have several cars on this forum running big WHP . So running the Vortech kit with the 3.12 pulley and making 380whp is very doable and reliable .
I've gone the whole 9 yards with this kit and made a bunch of mistakes . Dont spend a bunch of money you dont need to . If you want this kit . Get it , have it installed with the 3.12 pulley . Have it tuned by some one that knows and has the R4 program to tune the SS box . Drive it for a awhile and see if its enough and to see if the car likes it . Then if you want to add more power , you will know more about F/I , the Vortech kit , and what exactly you'll need to up the power ......Bill

Thanks a lot for the help. So the stock kit doesn't come with the 3.12 kit so I'll have to order that.

I'll contact SS and pick up the software. Dammit, lol. I guess I'm gonna have to buy another wideband. Had the innovate LM1 before, might try something different this time.

You may want to look into the Zietronix . Its a wideband , boost , and EGT gauge all in one . It also datalogs . Small 4"+2" digital read out [ around there ] . They use very good sensors , A/F reads into the 9's - unlike alot of the other widebands that dont read under 11to1 A/F . The whole package runs about the same as an expensive wideband .

yeah, I've heard good things about zeitronix. The Innovate was a decent setup but seemed to go thru the wideband sensor too frequently.

very encouraging information here, thanks guys!
