Quick question on a race i had
the converter is told to lock up from the info from the ecu. but even if it had lost lock up for a second, your rpm's would have shot up. if your rpm's stayed the same during this and you lost power, i would look at some change in the timing. but i agree, 10-1 a/f is really rich for that amount of boost. what are you running for engine management? can you datalog and duplicate the problem?
btw- auto's are way better for a high hp street car or drag car. kind of wishing i had an auto in my Z now, lol.

i got the greddy kit out of the box so im using the blue e-manage with the J&s Safegaurd retarding timing by 1/2 a drgree every PSI.
What do you mean datalog and duplicate the problem?????
Also everybody ask me o its twin turbo and i say yes and i tell them its AT and they seem dissapointed. I know its true at street levels the manual is faster unless you have a good AT tranny but when you reach certain power levels you really wont be able to shift such high horsepower cars. The only thing people here in the forum see it like that is becouse the fact that nothing really good has come out for the At tranny and plus atleast we AT z's have triptronic. Its just a waiting game now. But whatever
Anyone else knows or think anything on my performance.

im going build the car completely Burrito06 i would like to see you shift a 800rwhp 350z in the streets with street tires i dont think its that easy.
Nothing against the stick shift cars they are a blast to drive but get 2 fully built Z's same mods same tunning take them to the track. And tell me which is faster.
Have you seen that silver Z that did the 8.33 1/4 what tranny do you think he has.
Is not becouse people like AT and the put it on their dragsters is the fact that is faster shifting and error proof with stick you can make a mistake or shift a little low or a little high.
Now stock on stock yes manual is faster.

You get a lot more performance, durabiltiy, options, less maintenance on a MT. That is why everyone that really likes to drive gets them on sports cars and 4x4's.
And guess what - if I have 800 hp I have to push the gas to the floor to get it, so I know when I shift I put the gas somewhere I know where the tires won't slip and slowly push the accelerator to the floor. Do you know when your AT will shift so you can change the accelerator? Or do you like replacing parts all the time?
its your tune more than likely, the A/T should hold up fine for most mild to moderate set ups. My initial tune had a lag at 4000rpm's for a micro-second but you could still feel it. After some fiddling around I was able to get rid of it. Going so rich can really slow things down too. Tune then race agian.
Also the 2 speed you chose to race from aren't ideal for our setups.
Try 15-20mph or 40mph it puts the gears just right for the initial start.
I find 30mph is to high for 1st gear & too low for 2nd gear.
diddo for 50mph.

Yes AT trannys are more money to maintain but atleast for me i want to build my z to be pretty much a 9 sec car but not taken to the track all the time.
And now you are going to tell me that you or anyone around is going to shift as fast as a fully built AT tranny. You having your fully built manual i dont think so and always remeber this the only thing that can go wrong in a AT tranny for it not to shift right is for the tranny to be bad. With stick their is always a window of oppertunity to miss a shift or not shift as fast as the last shift.
Stick shift is more fun then At in autocross or anything my point that im trying to get is that in a race a AT fully built is faster then a manual fully built.
I dont want to start anything but ask some guys with their high horse power cars if they dont have trouble sometimes shifting them.
And one last one what do the fast cars in the quarter mile use.
Get back to me
It's funny how people argue about MT vs. AT all the time. The truth is they both have their advantages and disadvantages. If drag racing is your thing then there is no doubt that the automatic is the way to go, especially at higher power levels. But on a road or autox track it is a different story because most autos just won’t give you the kind of control over the cars power output that you need to make it perform its best. So it’s not one vs. the other, they each have their place and purpose and it’s as simple as that.
Even though there is a tad bit more power loss in the drive train on an automatic it can often times more than make up for it by being able to shift quicker and more consistently. Back in the old days the automatic transmission that came on production cars were very lacking performance wise but that is not the case today. Today they are much more precise and durable as well as lighter and on the drag strip more than hold their own.
I have had tons of sports cars over the years and most of them have been MT just because I don’t drag and I like to row gears but the ones that had an AT were still something to be respected.
Now to answer your question Fairlady_z33, without knowing more information I would have to say that your problem is not in the transmission. It sounds to me like you just need to get your car tuned properly on a dyno. This should always be your first step after installing FI just because you can create a controlled environment to test the new setup on a dyno that will better allow you to see how the car is accepting it and what changes may need to be done to ensure it performs it’s best and doesn’t cause damage. Try putting it on a dyno in a controlled environment and see if you can get the problem to reproduce itself. It would also be in your best interest to find a good reputable shop and have them tune it for you before you drive it too much more. If you can find one that will let you watch and participate so you can learn something at the same time then that would be ideal. Most of the really good shops will let you watch them do their magic and it is by far the best entertainment money can buy. Also ditch those stock plugs!!! You should be running colder ones with FI…
