Default Quick question on a race i had

Please do not move i posted here so the FI guys can help me out.

Well today i was at the hangouts and some guys come up to my group and ask who was the owner of the Z. I said me, they asked me if i wanted to race. I asked them against what? they told me a C5 corvette so i asked them what it had they told me it only had an intake and it was AT. I was like ok. So we go

His mods
Intake
19 inch wheels
He is automatic

My mods
Greddy TT at 5 pounds (not tuned)
Megan racing test pipes
19 inch Iforged
Im automatic and everything else is stock

1st Run : We take it to around 25 miles 1st gear. When we punch it we are together. Then i go to second and when im around 5 to 5.5 rpm the car suddenly felt like it holded it self back (gave him about a 1/2 to 1 second of advantage i think it was the tranny that slipped) and kept on going and I stayed 1 to 1 1/2 car behind.

2ns Run : We take it to 55 around their 2nd gear i believe. We punch it and i immidiately take off on him all the way to 4th i had 1 1/2 to 2 cars on him.

3rd Run : We do it from a dead stop. I power brake he does the same we take off the C5 had problem with traction but caught it immidiately I in the other hand had problem with traction and went into 2nd and ended at 4 grand. And when i end up at 4 grand the same thing happens the car holded it self back and then went ahead again by this time he had 2 cars on me but through 3rd gear i pulled him in and passed him but shifted from 3rd to 4th at 6k rpm but still stayed ahead 1 to 2 cars.

What do you guys think about the performance. Should it have been better or was it ok.?????

Also what do you guys think was that little thing i felt that the car would hold itself back but would then immidiately go again. Like if i was steppin on it and had let go of the gas and then punched it immidiately again.????

I wouldnt be racing an untuned car, thats just asking for trouble. Get your $hit tuned then go back and show him what your car can really do....

wondering if you were getting knock and the ecu retarded the timing. or maybe the trans slipping. so would the rpm lag or shoot up when this was happening?

The VDC was OFF

Stock plugs

I have the J&S safegaurd and its retarding 1/2 a degree every PSI they told me that i could do an open run but not to abuse the car.

The RPM's will hold itself their (but again this was in matters of a sec or so) and then will start moving again it felt weird

The tranny thing feels like the computer tells it to hold itself for a sec then tells it to go WOT but at the same time it felt like the tranny slipped i dont really know.

Should i have beat him by more or did the car do what it was suppose to do?

thats really rich, u could be misfiring. im no expert on at's but it could be something driveline related, there is a clutch like piece on the tranny that converts the tq, it could be slipping.

If they came up to you looking for a race, it didn't just have an intake!!! We've got an automatic C5 we built, for a young lady, with a 382 and very mild "sounding" cam that looks stock and could pass for just having an intake, headers and catback. It has run 11.2 on the stock goodyear eagles so be wary of any LS1/2 automatic cars.

I really dont know i asked and thats what they told me. He even asked if i wanted him to pop his hood but i was dont worry i dont care. Lets go but hey who knows maybe he did have more then just an intake one thing i know for fact that it did not sound loud like if it was modded nasty. Maybe he had some similar like you said.

Should my car have put a spanking on him if he really only had an intake.

Have you dynoed? If so what did the A/F look like over the RPM?
9.9 - 10 seems way to rich for only 5psi boost. I would have the fuel map looked at by a tunner right away.
Why would you put FI on an AT?

its just notorious for being a weak tranny on the at's. there have been several lately blowing the tranny, even when built. i dont see any problem with it per say, but dont expect a whole lot of durability from the tranny.

I personally wouldnt race if I drove an automatic. It's just not the same as racing a manual car.

Sounds kinda like the torque converter. I was told they are like rubberbands, you pull it and it creates a slingshot affect. Well kinda like that with the torque converter. Maybe it was too hot or something or you need a fluid change. Check with your tuner and get it tuned, could be that too.

Im not planning on running the stock tranny with lot of power and plus the mods for the AT tranny have just begun sooner or later someone will step up with a good tranny.

im going build the car completely Burrito06 i would like to see you shift a 800rwhp 350z in the streets with street tires i dont think its that easy.

Nothing against the stick shift cars they are a blast to drive but get 2 fully built Z's same mods same tunning take them to the track. And tell me which is faster.

Have you seen that silver Z that did the 8.33 1/4 what tranny do you think he has.

Is not becouse people like AT and the put it on their dragsters is the fact that is faster shifting and error proof with stick you can make a mistake or shift a little low or a little high.

Now stock on stock yes manual is faster.
