Exclamation Acceleration issues with the TN kit? 2nd and 3rd gear

Has anyone experienced a "hiccup" or something similar toward the end of the powerband around 5500 rpms and then it resumes to the redline of 6600. I don't have a clue why it does this, it doesn't do it everytime, but then again I have only had the kit now for 350 miles or so. I had ran some Texaco gas through it, the first time that I had ran any gas other than Amoco, I don't know if that would have effected it at all, but I am trying to throw out all parts to the problem. ANY ADVICE would be appreciated. All the gauges seem to be right on, too

Well I dont have FI but I can say that if you hit any kind of bump in the road or get any kind of traction loss it will result in this "hiccup" your talking about. This often happens when shifting, so that makes sense....Try turning TCS off and it may help a bit (will still hiccup on bumps).

interesting, I think I had my traction control off, but will try it again later, and come to think of it both times I was on a hilly, bumpy in places road.

well when i first installed my kit it did the same thing and when i double checked my install i found that the vacumm line that feeds the wastegate was getting moved and pinched while underload so that would make me "hiccup", so you may wanna make sure none of the lines are being pinched.

There is a video of him on here somewhere and he takes his car almost to redline in it. I didnn't see anything like that in the video.

With my car it doesn't happen all of the time, but is occurring more frequently now. Starting to annoy me now.

Yes... It's a problem common for the TN cars. I had it too until I got the UTEC. The car falls on it's face for about a second then resumes acceleration like nothing happened.

It has nothing to do with the kit. It has to do with the cars computer not being designed for forced induction. Another reason to get a UTEC.

Um, what? Turbonetics has a pretty darn good idea why its there....thats the point where stock ECU knock detection is over... as a result they dumped a GANG of fuel in at 5500 to make sure nothing happened above 5200 where the ECU wouldn't be able to read knock..This can be tuned out and it has been or you can add a plenum spacer...Mine was noticeable before that...after the spacer it seems to have gone away a bit..

I have already upgraded plugs and it does this. It really does this for me around 4000rpm's though. Look in my turbo install thread for a video clip I shot and listen to see if thats what yours sounds/feels like. I had no idea people had this issue, I had never heard it before getting the kit

5500 RPM is exactly where I would go rich and lose power with the flash, and even after the initial EU installed beginning tuning...Sharif had figured it out after seeing the injector duty cycle was going 100% or something... But he changed that and it made alot more power the rest of the way...

But it sucked before with the flash to go WOT throw you back in the seat then you get to 5500 rpm and then it just kinda go bland... I have the dyno charts and stuff in some of my threads in this section.

I also read under your write up about your car using 93 octane so am I. Mia said something about that. I live in Georgia and use 93 octane, does that have something to do with it.

I have always used 93, I don't think that is not the cause.

Have you done a dyno yet with A/F reading?

I think you should and post back up...

Go to Mainstream, or Topspeed, or Knowledge... Just to name a few with good dyno's.

Did you happen to fix it Peking? If so, how do you fix it on the tune? My tuner wasn't about to smooth the hiccup out and I have the Emange Ultimate /w spacer. And it's the catted version

I believe I have had this experience also. Scared the crap out of me thinking "something" just failed I don't have the TN kit but if the knock sensor is causing it then that would not matter. Why would this be so pronounced for the TN guys anyways ?
