The boost tapering .75 psi instead of 3 to 5 psi like previous is a great improvement. That minimal boost taper at the top end is probably a mix of turbo qualities and a subpar wastegate design. I lose 5 psi after 4500 to redline with the exact same turbo and exhaust (with the resonator) setup as Tig.

In any case glad to hear that your car is running better.
a long time ago i did drop the exhaust and it dropped boost, but i found that i had other issues, like the exhaust flanges were loose.

recently i dropped the exhaust after i got everything else fixed, and it held boost perfectly.

before i did the tranny stuff, i would drop down to less than 4500 between shifts, and the boost would start to drop past 4500, now i guess with the new flywheel and clutch, when i shift it never drops past 5000, and the boost holds strong.

I glad that you remebered what Peter said about high exhaust back pressure being the main issue with Tig's boost drop. I suspect that Tig had multiple problems at once and it can become very confusing as to what the real problem is. Tig also had a boost leak before the turbocharger (one loose turbo flange nut), once this was rectified any boost drop had to be caused by a restrictive exhaust, awesome to see that TIG is finally sorted for now.

true, peter was partially right, i admit it. kinda misleading tho when i called JIC and they said it was a 3" ID resonator. now i have to get the hole in the exhaust housing of the turbo fixed.

fair enough - obviously, that's not 3" ID.

how are you going to fix that hole? can you weld a blob in there and grind it smooth?

ahm
