Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction as to how to bleed the coolant hose lines properly. I installed SAMCO hoses and didn't bleed the lines and mine does the same thing. At idle the heater gets cold untill I start moving again.

Thanks.

hey, i fixed mine the other day, all you do is take off the radiator cap, and a cap in the back of th engine bay. it's not hard to find really but u need to make sure you have the right one. if you are looking at the front of the engine bay, as if you are standing with your knees to the front bumper, it will be on the left (passenger) side of the back of the engine, a black hose with a circle cap on it. it's plastic and looks like a philips head screw driver will unscrew it. unscrew it. take some water or antifreeze (i used water) and fill it in the radiator from the first cap you took off. Fill with water in this location until you see antifreeze come out of the cap in the back. you may have to fill it and wait, fill it and wait, and so on and so on. until there is no air in the system. recap both ends and test it out. let me know if this works for you and if you understand what im saying.

Thanks Backagain,

I will try this out this weekend and let you know how it works. So far w/o looking at my engine bay I understand your instructions perfectly.

Default Update

Well, I took advantage of the warmer weather yesterday. I replaced the radiator cap and then I let the engine get up to temp and tried bleeding the cooling system more through the bleeder valve at the rear of the engine. I did this 4 or 5 times and a small burp of air came out each time. There was still no heat at idle. I then drove around for about 1/2 hour and temp was right in the middle the whole time and only varied by 1/2 tick or so. Heater was fine & hot while driving. I did not have a chance to do any real WOT runs though. I wil try to take it out again later this week or next weekend for a longer ride.

I think I will still replace the T-stat just to be on the safe side.

It's getting cold again, and I've noticed I have the same issue. I didn't have this problem last Winter. Is it the coolant level or the t-stat or both?

This just started happening to me too. My first 03 Z never had that problem but with my 2nd one, the I'm getting no heat during idle or low rpms. I'm bone stock and can't figure why it's happening.

I added a little extra coolant and it seems to have improved. I think the cooler weather causes the water to be denser and make it seem like you have a little less coolant in the system.
