Car will be fully track tested this week, then at the DUB Magazine show at the LA convention center on Sunday the 19th, and the Performance Nissan show on Feb 25 at Citrus College.

The car was tuned by Jim Wolf and Clark on a dynapak at their facility in El Cajon. Many of the mods below were previously done, but this is the current package with the VRT engine build.

Engine/drivetrain modifications:

JWT TT using modified T-28 Garret ball bearing turbos, CP pistons at 8.5 to 1 static compression ratio, Pauter rods, Jim Wolf S2 cams, high flow intercooler

Thermal coating to inside and outside of exhaust manifolds and turbo housing using TurboX, and to piping using CermaKrome, both metallic-ceramic.

Motordyne iso-thermal plenum spacer with aramid gasket

JWT aluminum oil pan spacer

Koyo aluminum radiator, Redline Water Wetter, Peak coolant-water mix

Samco hoses

Amsoil pre-oiler and BMK-13 bypass filter, 10+ quarts amsoil 0-30W oil.

Stillen oil cooler

Nismo Power steering cooler

Odyssey lightweight dry battery

Fluidamper harmonic crankshaft balancer/pulley

ATS lightweight flywheel and triple disc carbon clutch

Nismo lsd with redline differential oil and MOC lubricant

HKS dual exhaust, crawford high flow catalytic converters

Handling Modifications:

VRT strut tower brace front, Stillen strut tower brace rear

Stillen sway bars front/rear

Nismo bushings

Tein Flex coilover dampers with 12kg springs

Tein Electronic Damping Force Control unit

Performance Nissan adjustable front upper control arms

Stillen rear camber links

Stop Tech 14.1" big brake kit with Motul 600 RBF, Pagid Orange brake pads

Enkei NT03 +M wheels powder coated black

Nitto NT-01 tires 275/35/18 F and 315/30/18 R

Corner balanced

Miscellaneous:

Rogue short shifter with Nismo rubber GT ****

Autovation drilled pedals

Custom welded six point roll bar with quick release harness bar

Vis vented carbon fiber hood (painted oem ivory pearl)

Sparco Milano front seats with pull down harnesses

Full array of electronic warning gauges and meters, electronic boost controller, etc

It weighs 3564 lbs, all in and with fuel, but without driver. The car was corner balanced with 190 pounds in the driver seat to simulate driver and his gear, such as helmet etc.

The build has been chronicled at FA in four chapters so far, with lots of pictures. It is the sticky thread of Conversion from SC to TT.

Here is the link to the fourth and most current chapter. There are also many embedded links to various parts used in the build.

Nice... Should be fun at the track with all that torque. Not trying to hijack, but did you notice at all if the HKS dual is restrictive at 12 psi?

I was 150 miles away with a head cold and could not attend the dyno tune (sobs and sniffles). So I think Mike or Scott will have to give you their impression. The HKS is to my reading one of the very least restrictive and free flowing units at 2.5". (also one of the louder ones, which could be a problem at Laguna Seca with the 92 db noise limit). Having said that, we all know that one of the indicia of a restrictive exhaust is the presence of a high torque and lower horsepower readout. A larger 3" diameter pipe might arguably be called for to free up horsepower "trapped" by restrictive exhaust.

But.....there are other factors at work here, not the least of which is that we have deliberately chosen smaller turbos for faster spool up and earlier power, with little to no lag. We have then attempted to enhance that even further with the thermal coatings. Trapping heat inside the manifold and turbo housings should cause higher gas velocities, as should the coating surface itself being smooth and reducing tumbling, making for faster spooling and earlier and more power...plus the reduction in ambient engine compartment temp should be 100 degrees F or more! That means more power too. And we are trying to get a result that is in fact high torque over an extended band so that we have "launch" on turn exits...it is high end torque that gets us moving from 75mph to 140mph...that is exactly what we are after! Within at least two full alternative gearing choices. And we are getting it. This was carefully planned out with the gents at VRT in advance, so I could not be happier with the outcome. This is not a couple of quick pulls "dyno queen" set up for producing a chart. This is a track b&%^* that will run the distance lap after lap without heat soak causing the performance to fade. As the song goes, this car has Betty Davis eyes and will "roll you like dice".

+1 on that one Ed.
I love the way your car feels already. This car is NOTHING short of a complete car. It is the best feeling, most well rounded G35 I have ever seen or driven. (and that's saying ALOT )
I can't wait to track test this thing. With this car I am actually excited (and honored) to drive it. Come Tuesday I am going to miss it.. But I hope to have a few (track day) visitation rights.
