Nismo cat back with APS TT?
Hi everyone, gotta say this site kicks a$$ for the 350z!! purchased a base '05 in september and mothballed right now for the winter. I have purchased new rims and tires, Nismo suspensions and sways, and was wondering if the nismo exhaust will be OK with the APS TT system. I like the nismo exhaust and can get a good deal on it right now. I plan to install the APS system in the fall as there is now a APS distributor in our area( 4 hours away, lol).
is the nismo ok or should I wait and get the APS exhaust when i get the TT?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have the Nismo exhaust with APS TTs and I'm pretty happy with the performance. My tuner even commented on how well it flowed and good it sounded. At 9psi, he mentioned getting 442whp was excellent with this exhaust.
Im in the same dilemna as you right now. Car should be back to day from turbo install (greddy) and i have the nismo exhaust and was also wondering if it would hurt too bad to have the nismo or not. Ill post my impressions to give you another view when i get it and dyno it later.
The nismo exhaust looks like it would be restrictive but its definitely proving some people wrong. However, a better flowing exhaust would benefit. The Nismo is adequate to your needs. I have it with the APS TT and at 9.5psi i have 462/445. Im gonna mate the 3.5 APS Test pipes to the Nismo exhaust and see how that works.

Although you would benefit from a APS 2.5 TD exhaust, I think the nismo would work for your application. Free flowing is however always better, less heat, less resistance ect. They both sound great

whatever you do, if you use the nismo exhaust, use an aftermarket Y-Pipe. If you don't, you'll get boost spikes at high rpms and you'll lose some power up top. Also you'll have slight detonation. This is why I dropped my JIC and went with a custom true dual.
Good luck. And you'll be the second guy in BC with an APS TT Z.

We have done an APS TT on a Z with a Nismo catback. Nismo makes a good exhaust, however it didn't mate very well with the twin setup. The numbers were significantly lower than other better flow exhaust. I believe the Nismo was at least 20hp lower...it may have been more though.
Thanks BSP, I was wondering about matching up the tt with the nismo exhaust. I think i'm going to make a call to my guys and see if they can get the new 3.5" H.F. cats with either the APS 2.5 or 3" set up. keep it all APS. again thanks guys.
If your only looking for performance then go with the APS True Dual. However the tone of the engine changes with that style muffler because there is no mid pipe to equalize the tone, so be sure you like the sound before you decide, I personally do not like the sound of their exhaust. Im not only performane minded, i like to keep the Z sounding like a Z and thats why I prefer the Nismo. Just thought I'd let you know since ive heard both.

Damn, changed my mind again!!lol, back to the nismo! Has to sound great. I've heard the nismo and loved it. i'm willing to sacrifice a little power for great sound as i'm not racing in any way, just a neighborhood killer!! just has to be safe and beat the neighbors new ride, chrysler 300 srt(?) i think.
anyone else?
anyone else?
How hard would it be to put transform the APS TD to an H pipe in the center section, somewhat like the Borla? Has anyone done that? Does it sound any different? Equalizing the pressure should be good, no?
