I'm posting in FI because it seems to have the most knowledgeable people...oh yeah and it's because my car is Fi'd I need a Roll bar
I've been trying to find a place that sells NHRA Legal Roll Bars for the Z without luck. The only places I found that make Z Roll Bars follow different regulations if any most of them are simply for show.
Since with the planned new mods I should hit below 11.5 within the next 6 months I will need a Roll Bar.
Anyone know of a company that sells NHRA Legal Roll Bars or maybe a decent fabricator that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.

If I recall correctly from my 1/4mile days, there are no NHRA legal roll bars at all. You have to step up to a roll cage. (the difference being you need side bar protection that runs along the drivers door). I believe these are required when you run 11.99 and faster.

not correct.
you need a 5 point roll bar 11.49 and faster (one point goes along the drivers door.
Roll Cages are required 10.99 or faster (or 135 mph and faster)
the rules were changed in 2005 from 11.99 to 11.49 so you're not all wrong.
The 2006 NHRA Rule Book has explicit diagrams for a roll bar

MrTomCat,
Is there an electronic form of the 2006 NHRA rulebook. I could use some advice on what I should be looking for with my roadster. I know the rules are different and require roll bars/cages earlier then you guys with coupes. I am also curious if a bolt-in or removable bar/cage would be allowed.
Thanks.

I have not found an electronic version but I can look up a few things for you.
Convertibles need Roll Bars at 13.49 (used to be 13.99)
bolt in cages/bars are allowed

My last run was 13.41@109.4mph and all they told me was I needed a helmet next time I came to the track.. I am sure I could be in the low 13's if I could get better at launching... Dumping the clutch is easy but not very effective
So my next question would be when do I need a cage and would that be a 4 point or 5 point? I do not want to put in a roll bar and then in 3 months find out I need a cage with the new engine. I am expecting around 600+whp and a drop into the 11's or 12's.
Are there any diagrams as to the minimum standards I should be looking for? I know there are many ways to build them, but I am trying for something as unobtrusive as possible since it is a convertible and a show car.
Thanks,

Also check with autopower as they also have a roll cage for the 350Z.

I am not sure your height, but I know others have had problems fitting in the car after the roll bar/cage was installed. They solved it by bolting a race seat directly to the floor.

Let me know what you go with, since I am looking too.

Thanks for the links and all.
I am not that tall (say 5'11") and have already put in my Cobra Racing seats..
The problem with the standard roll bars is the X brace and rearward braces. I have a convertible, and that is not possible as far as I can tell.
I guess I will have to give Piper a call and see what they think.

This is what I got off of INfineon RAceway and they typically follow NHRA rules since they have NHRA races there.

I was looking at the Susuka GT or the Imola GT. The technology line is suppose to be the stiffest seat on the market today, yet with a big price tag.
Any feed back on your choice would be helpful.
Thanks
