I think dunlop would pay top dollar to have there drift car tuned right... they did one session supposebly on the car and it came back sounding like a rod nocking. pulled the motor apart bearings in great shape all rods bent honestly I dont know more details then that. hell i want to run budget rods but that might not be the case for me right now

I still think that more info on the dunlop car would be a good idea. Did it have a crazy high redline maybe? Like mentioned before, so many things go into a FI car who knows what it was. Maybe I will try to contact Dunlop and get some info.

I am pretty sure that Dunlop doesn't own the car, just simply sponsoring it. In some cases you will even see large tire sponsors to simply provide tires for an entire season with no financial backing. You need to find out who built and tuned the car. This is the most crucial factor seeing that there were reports of multiple SR 4-cyl engines that made 500+ whp on stock rods.

Do you know who was driving the car or have any pictures of the car? I can try to talk to the shop that is building it and find out what went wrong.

Yah im pretty sure they are just a sponsor for the car. I think Big Tom is building the motors for them ill call and find out more info there are soo many factors. So i cant really say its a eagle flaw. btw my stock SR would give at 400ish rod bolts would stretch, Just depends how cherry your motor is and how much abuse your setup can hold

I would be really interested to know what caused their engine to blow up.

If the torque developed at that high of a RPM could also break bolts or bend rods. But I wont know till i ask Dunlop car supposebly was spinning to 8900 with some narley cams. that could have been the culprit

Um I think that 8900 rpms prolly had a big part in it. RPMS kill rods before power does general. If anyone would like some more info on this search for "internals stress theory". Very informational thread
