Thumbs up Cat's Update

Brett & Bill - I guess John won't mind me telling. He said that between a fried E-Manage & bad weather the project was held up indefinitely BUT he hopes to have her Z completed today!! I've PM'd Cat & she didn't do internals as she plans on keeping a mild tune on her car. She said something about upgrading things as her budget allows but we didn't go into details.

BTW - What's a budget???!!!

I think she was having some personal issues . I dont think there was any damage . Im not sure if John and Cat wanted every one to know what was being done to her car . SO I'll let one of them tell if they want to

Well another set back . The blower is making the same really loud whine . Talk to Jamie at Vortech and let him listen to it over the phone . He said to take the cog belt off which I did...no noise at all .So the blower will go back again . Bummer . I can get a few more miles on it before tuning though .

Cool U're Scaring Me!!

Bill - Now I'm starting to rethink my Vortech application!! I've heard ( literally!! ) about all the noises the blower makes & other problems fellow members have been having - d***!
Isbell got the block yesterday & he's gonna start working on it today. Guess I'll just pull the trigger & pray for the best!

Im not worried about it at all . They will get it figured out . I got a taste of what it can do when the blower is freed up to make power . I think they just over looked some thing . Its a really loud whine , sounds like a huge twin screw race blower at idle and reving ....Bill

Well the blower is back in . Vortech replaced all the gears inside . The new Kumura bumper is on , knock sensor hooked up to the Zetronix data logger . I took it out and did a couple of little WOT runs to about 5700rpm's . Its building boost a little sooner and feels really strong .
new boost numbers

3500rpm =4.5psi
4000 =5.4
4500 = 7
5000 =9
5500 = 11
5700 =12psi

So Im thinking 13psi will come at 6000rpm and I might be able to hit the 15 to 16psi by redline of 7000 or 7200rpm's . If I hit close to 16psi , I'll start saving for a new Utec as the SS box only goes to 16psi and I dont want to take a chance of going over that ....dont know what would happen . It was 60 degree's out today , but it is only going to get to 40 to 45 the rest of this week and next week . Im on vacation and Im kinda bummed , I wanted to spend the week street tuning this thing to get it on the dyno soon .

Thanks tigg

I got to ask around if anyone knows what would happen if I go passed 16psi [ max out the SS box ] Im wondering if it will just keep the fuel and timing as if at 16psi , or will it go back to stock ECU settings ?

Congrats Bill, I wonder what Gene is doing to get his boost in quicker, maybe you could build 15 psi without nearing redline.

Wink He Knows!!

AC - Bill & I have communicated plus he knows John so we're all sharing information on each other's setups. Basically John's just overdriving the blower & using a wastegate to bleed of the excess pressure - keeps the S/C spooled up so that response time is minimized.
What he's NOT allowing me to reveal ( under the threat of death - to my baby which he now has in his possession!! ) is something else he told me about Thursday when I dropped off my G.

Gene, I had a feeling about the wastegate application but it was the other thing that you cannot reveal that I was interested in No worries I can wait to see results

The way the car feels now . I dont really need to spool the SC up faster . And adding a Wastegate and switching around the BOV would cost me more money Im not willing to come up with right now . As of right now , I cant go WOT till I get above 3500rpm in third [ AT5 ] . Im thinking of putting the 3.3 rear end back in to make lower gears more usable and get use of the cruise control back.

I dont think head lift will be a problem with a SC and high boost . But when you start bringing on the higher boost levels on earlier it may come into play .
Ive got tons of money into this thing and I just want to start driving it now . Ive only put on 3,000 miles on it since I blew in up a year and a half ago . The only other plans are to put in a new EMU if needed...if I can hold off on that for a while ...I will
