Default double f/i project

ok, found that VRT has an extra intercooled stillen set up, we are working out a trade or something for. i have done more research and found that the boost pressures do not just add like, 15psi turbo and 5.7 psi stillen=20.7psi, but they get times by eachother. so 15psi turbo and 5.7 psi stillen= 85.5psi!!!
i am undoubtedly not going to run that high on the turbos, maybe something in the 4-6 psi range and run the stillen at stock boost levels. the stillen will be creating all the heat due to the fact that is where most of the compression will be happening. next thing is to figure out where to put the stillen ic. it is an air to water intercooler. easy to make more effiecient on the track where a cooling tank of dry ice can be of major help, but not really optimum for on the street where i would needto fill with ice alot. i will prolly end up adding a fan on the stillen water cooler. just need to figure out where to mount it.

this car should have a crazy torque and hp curve!!

I thought on a twin charged car the supercharged portion of it just had a bypass valve that opened allowing air to go past the screws when the turbos took over. But I may be wrong on that. I haven't researched twincharging very much. Aside from that you may check the tractor pulling world for me info on compound boosting. They do this alot. Like running a T4 feeding a T55 feeding a T70 feeding a T88 so on so forth. They typically run watercooling in between each stage though...

not neccasary to run a bypass vent. i have been talking with a guy that did a twin turbo blowing through an 8-71 roots style blower on a big block chevy, lol. crower race team had the same set up on one of their dragsters many years ago too. i honestly have no idea what to expect for power delivery. will you still feel the turbos spool? since the s/c has alot more linear delivery, i think the turbo spool will be way more violent that before. if the stillen is at 5 psi on a quick mash of the gas, the turbos will spool and look something like this-
turbos
1psi=5psi
2psi=10psi
3psi=15psi and so on

i also have a feeling the roots style will loose a little boost due to leakage past the rotors. but i just hope it isn't to much pressure on the rotors to tweak them and make them hit and get damaged. only way to figure this out is to do it and hit the gas,lol.

Definitely one of my favourites too. Try getting one of those triggers on the gearshift, so when you pull it, the supercharger kicks in. That would be wicked. Jokes aside, how much are you planning to get out of it. Using stock boost on both turbo and supercharger, you´ll probably be well in the four digit figures? Good luck man, that going to be the Z that EVERYONE talks about!

ya mia, just did alittle investigating on some of the tractor pulling set ups. intake pressures at or over 300psi are common on diesels in tractor pulling, lol. who wants to try that, hahhaa.

I dont know squat about this dual FI . But the Stillen SC is only capable of flowing so much CFM , will that limit what the effect the turbo's will contribute to it ? Meaning , you can stuff 15psi from the turbo's in the rotors of the blower but will the CFM be limited to what the blower can flow ?

Yeah bro there some crazies out there worse then you. 250-300 PSI is pretty common on tractor pull rigs...But they watercool each stage. You will DEFINITELY want to think about that...

the trick here is that it is not of huge importance any more how much the stillen s/c can create on its own. it will be further compressing already compressed air. yes water injection will be pretty much mandatory right before the stillen and need to find a good spot to mount the stillen intercooler. the stillen will be the one trying to create all the heat. if the stillen is run at 5psi, it will compress at a 5-1 ratio. 7psi on the stillen will be 7-1 from the charge being fed to it. the stillen will take abit of power to run, so i am also curious about the belt strength from slipping.
i want to see a stillen dyno chart to see how the s/c boost slope is. only 5psi on the turbos and the stillen making 2psi will result in 10 psi instantly. this thing should have decent torque, hahhaa.

The turbo's actually may help turn the SC and belt slipping may not be a problem

That is not correct. It is added. They do this on Cummis diesels all the time where the run about 30psi on the first turbo, which feeds the inlet of the second turbo. The second turbo runs another 30psi for a total of 60psi, not 900psi.

HKS made a kit like this for the Supercharged MR2 years ago where they added a turbo to the mix and the total boost was about 15psi with 7psi coming from the blower and 7 or so from the turbo.
